lawyering up

Wasn't a problem for the last 20 years or so, but now all of a sudden the president shouldn't have any constitutional rights?

As I've explained in other threads, I am law enforcement and I'd never allow a family member to talk to a LEO without legal representation. Especially at the federal level where even a small lie can land you in jail.

I did. saw it on TV, and you know it has to be true if it's on TV.

It would be supremely dumb not to lawyer up. Most people don't realize what is and what is not their right. And I have seen people blurt shite out that wasn't even relevant to the questions being asked simply out of nervousness. I've seen people refuse to answer even the most basic of questions, making themselves look guilty of something they probably didn't even do , out of sheer nervousness.

And you know what? I was 100% trained to take advantage of ALL OF THAT to solve crimes.

For example, how many people realize it's perfectly legal for a LEO to lie to them during an interview? I had a guy one time, I lied and told him his partner had already confessed and blamed everything on him. The guy broke down and told me everything. I didn't even know he HAD a partner. Just a guess and a good lie LOL. Perfectly legal. The guy should have asked for a lawyer.

I know other LEOs that tell me things like this. It's dead on for what they do.

Why?

He's an LEO that knows how the profession operates and takes advantage of that to protect his family and friends.

Because he only advocates this for only his family. Does he point all that out to people he arrests.

Also, as a LEO I feel you should promote justice and truth and cooperation.

None of those things are incompatible with having legal representation, you fool.
As evidence of how foolish you are, yes, via the Miranda warnings, he does inform everyone he arrests of their right to counsel

He goes further by advocating to his family to always lawyer up.

Just a pet peeve of mine.

When they claim to want the truth when they are investigating someone but when they are asked for the truth...you need to check with a lawyer first.

If you believe you didn't do anything wrong....then cooperate.

you may want to practice your right to remain silent. Or your right to have an attorney present, or maybe Chicken will appoint you one.

To a certain point, if things get twisted you must protect yourself, and a lawyer is the best person to do that when dealing with legal matters.

I'm sorry but this is such a naive and simple thing to say.

When you deal with LEOs even if you did nothing wrong at all, you absolutely cannot take any chances at all and cannot give them any benefit of the doubt whatsoever that they are operating in good faith.

Simply being a person of interest is one of the most dangerous things ever and can get completely out of control if you aren't careful with what you're telling investigators, especially depending on how they interpret it.

Of course he does, it's called Miranda rights and he is required to "read" them during an arrest or investigation.
