How America Lost Its Head (Op-Ed)

In 2013, the left went nuts over a rodeo clown.
The rodeo clown was performing at the Missouri State Fair, and he had the awful temerity to wear a mask of then-President Obama. "We're going to stomp Obama now," said an announcer. "Hey, I know I'm a clown," the rodeo clown replied. "He's just running around acting like one. Doesn't know he is one." The media quoted a bystander who compared the act to a Ku Klux Klan rally. The lieutenant governor of the state condemned the act, as did one of the senators. The rodeo clown was fired, even though he'd dressed up as other presidents in the past.
Fast-forward four years.
On Tuesday, TMZ posted photos of comedienne Kathy Griffin, who has helped host CNN's New Year's Eve coverage for a decade, holding a mock-up of President Trump's severed head covered in blood. Griffin has a long record of anti-Trump sentiment, of course; in February, she told MSNBC's Chris Matthews: "I'm a big resister, and I don't believe in compromise with this president. I also think he's crazy. I think he's mentally ill. He's also an idiot." But this photo shoot crossed a rather obvious line -- it celebrated Trump's prospective murder. Imagine if anyone on the right had done something similar with Obama. The outcry would have been deafening.
Yet the same people who ask for trigger warnings for material that might offend anyone; the same people who believe that there is a "rape culture" that pervades America; the same people who say that President Trump has incentivized a culture of political violence across the land; are largely silent about Griffin's antics. Why? Because political violence is no longer taboo in the United States. It's just another tactic to utilize when useful and denigrate when others engage in it.

Some people don't know how to disagree with each other. When the "other" candidate wins, they can't handle it; it's a personal affront.
If kids spent more time on playgrounds--where they naturally learn how to resolve conflict when things inevitably don't go their way--and less time in front of screens and sitting inside of failing schools, the world would be better off.

I don't even remember anything about a rodeo clown, and I've seen everyone from CNN, Chelsea Clinton, Democrats, and Hollyweird all condemn the stupid picture. Rightly so. This is fake news.

The Op Ed was about both sides of the aisle. Maybe read the article?

The left hasn't lost their heads because they never had them. They don't use their brains when it comes to political discourse; they use their hearts.
Why aren't they outraged by Kathy Griffin? Because the picture validates how they feel. Why was the Obama clown worthy of outrage? Because it "triggered" their feelings in a negative way.
The left doesn't look at things logically and rationally. They don't say "all speech should be protected" because they don't want the kinds of speech that offends them to be protected. They want protected that which validates how they feel while they want banned that which offends them, even though their emotions are fickle and not based on reason.
That's why you can't reason with the left. That's why you can't concede anything to them. They will change their minds to follow their hearts at any given time, no matter how inconsistent their positions are. What baffles me is how they also claim to be the party of "science", which is the polar opposite of how they form opinions and engage in political activism. They are irrational.

Oh please. This was all over the news. The "satan" character from that TV movie that looked like Obama had many a jimmie rustled too. There was even a stink made by local NAACP officials over Obama presidential toilet paper. Meanwhile, leftists were making a movie that fantasized about Bush's assassination.
People should be pissed about this. However, I don't fault the media for not covering the KG story; I fault them for covering the rodeo clown story and everything else that was mildly offensive to Obamaphiles. None of this deserves airtime.

Perfect summation.

Absolutely - the modern approach to childhood is to immunize them from reality.

The 'news' should be about things that matter - comedy and stunts should be left to be enjoyed by their local audiences.
Would be OK to show on a local news channel.
Recently, it appears that the most newsworthy thing to flood the airways with is when someone, somewhere, (as long as they have the right message) gets OFFENDED about something - regardless of how tangential the inference has to be.

They have been reduced to a typo being their main comeback. It is a glorious sight.

Only one logical response... the Left must be crushed into the dirt like the human trash they are.

I remember Satan. I thought it was funny. Didn't some show or movie have W's head on a spike?
