A guy that used to work for me set his alarm for 430am so he could drink a couple hours before work (true story). He told me he drank Jack to ease his tremors and make him feel normal. When you're that deep in, you drink to feel normal not to get drunk. Lunchtime he would buy 3 bud longnecks at bar down the street that had $1 beers. He said $3 plus a $1 tip is cheaper than mcdonalds meal and the beer fills him up. After work, daiquiri shop near his house for $2 mixed drinks.

Guy is dead now, no surprise. Sad.

I don't want to live in a world where a drink at lunch is unacceptable

I'd say as long as his drinking doesn't put anyone at any direct physical risk, then you should mind your business. Now if he's operating heavy machinery or something like that, I'd confront him.

Does he do anything that puts other people's lives in danger? I am not a snitch so I wouldn't say anything.

Ever been around an alcoholic? Some of them, if they don't have a drink for a certain period of time, they will get shaky.. Agitated.. Maybe he needs to knock back a few to knock off the edge.

Are you 100% sure it was a beer?

Could it have been a soft drink or energy drink?

Does this dude do anything like operate machinery that would put others at risk?

Tell him to switch to hard liquor. It helps get you there faster. With the limited time you have for a lunch break, this is important.

Might as well. After work go up to him and say "Hey ________. I saw what you were doing at lunch. You need help my friend and I want to help you. This Sunday you can meet me and my family at our church service and we will pray about it".

He is going to be like "Really? Aww geez. What a guy. Sure. See you there my friend, I can't wait".

That sounds like a script for an after school special.

While in the parking garage, I notice a younger gentleman sitting in his car sipping on a beer. Noticed he drank at least two for the short time I was out there.

If you feel like you MUST get involved, go leave a note on his car TODAY.

"I saw you drinking 2 beers in your car for lunch today. Don't ever do this again AND I will be watching you. Next time, I go to HR"

Confront him and tell him he is in the wrong!!!

You don't drink beer it's easy to smell on the breath, tell him to switch to vodka.

Why? Do you think he's going to bring enough for everyone? Obviously he hides to drink because he doesn't feel like having to share.

There are several things you could do. Some have been mentioned previously, but I think there is really only one right answer. Mind your own fricking business!
