Lange will be held for game 2 and Walker will not pitch until Saturday earliest.

Well what you typed isnt exactly what he said but I think it's clear it'll be Poche in game 1.

Will poche pitch first game of supers? Or will they switch back?

I just can't grasp burning Poche against a SWAC team with a losing record when you have a perfectly capable Gilbert right there.

It's going to be:

Fri: Poche (pulled after 5 or 6 innings when the score is like 20-0)
Sat: Lange
Sun: Walker
Mon: Short rest Poche/bullpen (if necessary)

You can't risk Walker not throwing for 3 weeks. This isn't the last few years when we have 1 or 2 starters

This.
I'd do the same thing he did this past weekend.

There are positives and negatives to it. We don't have a crystal ball to know what we will do the rest of the way, which would make the decision much much easier. We certainly would like Walker to pitch this weekend, and starting Peterson/Gilbert would possibly remove the chance of this happening.

I will agree with the move, whichever way PM decides to do.

Considering the mid week losses to bad teams, I don't think we can just assume it being 20-0 after 6 innings.

Question is....does Lange throw on 4 days rest to open the super? Or does he wait an extra day?

It's not illegal to use him out of the pen at some point to get some work.

But what if we need him to start a game?

It's fricking Texas Southern... UNO, McNeese, South Alabama would beat them 20-0.

And call me crazy, but I think there might be just a touch more of a sense of urgency for our guys in game 1 of a regional v. a midweek game against UNO in March

How is this any different from Walker having to start after a little pen work?

One's senior who has come back on short rest in a regional before, the other is a freshman that hasn't.

How many wins does Poche need to be the all-time LSU leader for wins? This may be the only guaranteed win left on LSU/Poche's schedule.

I completely understand that. This is just one of those "we'll have to agree to disagree" things.

Frightening thought, but true.

I don't know if it is frightening. But he will only pitch once in the regional, once in the supers (definitely not a guaranteed win) and if LSU makes it to Omaha he will pitch once maybe twice (again not guaranteed win/wins). Poche only has four more games with the next game the only one you can for sure count on him getting a win.

He should at least tie the record and hopefully surpass it by two or three wins.
