Australian Imam: Make No Mistake, Islamic Scripture Commands Beheadings, Massacre People

Article, with video
It's a pretty strong condemnation of Islamic scriptures and rewriting of Islamic history (how it spread, etc).
(Sorry if Germans, btw)
IMHO, there's three Islamic groups:
1.) The Majority - the ones who don't want violence, but either pretend it never happened or that it doesn't apply anymore. Not violent themselves but nor are they helping things.
2.) The Radical - the one who subscribes, as this cleric points out, to the belief that killing infidels is a gateway to their paradise. Hard to "teach" against something that has been at least partially preached (even if the clerics didn't command them to do it, if you're reading a holy book of your faith and it says in a lesser-known portion that Kermit the Frog is evil, then enough of them will find it and subscribe to the fact that Kermit is the devil)
3.) The Honest - the person who grew up with the religion, it is part of their core, but also understands where it came from and some of the horrible things it says. Tries to explain to people that there are just some members of this religion that will NEVER be okay with a "better relationship" and tries to get officials to do something. Tries to teach a, "Yes, we came from a violent past but we are not chained to it and we can be something better," viewpoint. A very tiny minority, sadly.

quote:
“I’m not happy at all. I disagree. We have a situation where a month doesn’t go by without a terrorist attack happening somewhere in the world. And for the past 1,400 years, we have had a religion of war. That’s exactly what we have had. This is not something I’m imagining. These are facts. We’ve had many wars. How did Islam spread from Saudi Arabia down to Indonesia and Bosnia? All spread by the sword. We had many wars. “And for someone to come and say these Islamic scriptures have nothing to do with it, I mean, that’s against the facts. That’s not true. The Islamic scriptures is exactly what is pushing these people to behead the infidel. “Let me tell you something, the people that are beheading — the person that killed the young girls in Manchester did so believing he was going to dine with the prophet Muhammad that very night. And that is because the Islamic scriptures told them.”

But Liberals told me Islam was peaceful. Am I supposed to believe an Islamic leader or Liberals?

I've said it before and I'll a bunch more times; ALL radicals were moderates (majority) at one time.

I generally agree with what you said, but this point doesn't make sense to me. The west is filled with violent history, and to this day is waging war across the globe. Maybe we should be focusing on reforming ourselves and stay the frick out of the places where the extremists live.

yeah. so does Jewish scripture.

Absolute truth there yet the progressives like Ben Afleck will tell us Islam is a religion of peace despite Muhammad butchering his way across the Arabian penninsula.

Without getting into a tit-for-tat...
IF you asked me, "Are Muslims peaceful?" I would have two distinct viewpoints:
1.) The global perception of Islam
2.) My personal experiences with Muslims
So, if I answer the question based on personal experiences, I would say, "Yes. All the Muslims I, personally, have ever known are peaceful." If I answer based on world knowledge, I would say, "I don't know, but due to the propensity of religious-based violence, Islam is clearly the harbinger of more than any other religion. They need their people to reign it in before it grows further."
~shrug~ It's not a "black and white" situation, but it is one that requires honesty and discussion. Not immediate dismissal of all viewpoints.

I agree that we should not be involved in the inner workings of a lot of countries, but some have progressed beyond a point where that would be as easily done as if we had, say, done so in the 70s. If we had, Iran would still be a democracy that looks more like America than Saudi Arabia.
We have to own up that we (the United States) created a mess that we (the United States) needs to clean up in some way. I'm not interested in partisan blame - the simple fact of the matter is that we stuck our hands into other countries all the time. If there's an issue with one now, we need to assess if we are part of the cause and then fix it - not hope it resolves itself.

That's a bit of a simplification, and the Jewish scripture does NOT state that it was okay to just go on killing everyone indefinitely. They had religious wars, but those were, by scripture, always commanded by God Himself. So unless he shows up in Israel tomorrow and tells them to lay some smackdown, I don't see a parallel.

I like this guy
quote:
Tawhidi is considered a “fake” by other Muslims. In another YouTube video, he said:
“I am considered a fake because I would die for Australia. I am considered a fake because I live by the Australian constitution. I am considered a fake because I glorify the Australian flag. I am considered a fake because I reject sharia law and live by the Australian law. They have called me a fake Muslim Imam or a Shaikh only because I expose their intentions to create a caliphate within Australia. I am an Australian Muslim and not a Muslim Australian. I want an Islam that is compatible with the west.
“The bottom line is, I want Australia to stay Australian.”

Human beings are a very violent species. It's a neoliberal talking point about how nonviolent we've become, but we are what we are. The Ghost in the Machine as it were.
