He is a pretty damm good engineer and drew it out for me. This doesnt surprise me and he quit shooting there due to it.

I can explain it to you...the target at it's furthest depth is deeper than the start of the angles on the trap. If you hit the target holder which is angled down, the ricochet goes down to the trap angle on the floor and back out towards the shooter.
