This administration is a very unique one dealing with a president that's never worked in the public sector before and a very toxic political climate that is unprecedented and a media that is decidedly more partisan than ever before and previous Presidents never had to deal with that. Even it wasn't this bad under Bush 43 or even Reagan.

It's for that reason why quite a bit of the pitfalls they are facing are entirely new ones and future administrations will have those to look back on for proper protocols on what to do.

Part of that is due to the complete inaction and slow walking Congress did getting his cabinet confirmed. It was so bad that the last piece of cabinet in the trade representative was just confirmed last week, five months after his nomination. And there was nothing the President could do about that.

That's affected his agenda quite a bit as there's no way in hell his administration was going to let the interim people in on that considering the leaks that's happened so far.

Part of that is self inflicted wounds on the Presidents part. He clearly fricked up the Comey firing last week and completely screwed up the narrative war on it and made a bigger scene of it than it should be. When you fire someone, you need to do it as quietly and nicely as possible and stick to simple press releases and stick to that in official interviews. Another is completely screwing up the Russia meeting that should've been very formal and cordial and as light as possible on details as it can be. There's a red scare going on right now and you need to keep it short and sweet.

But half of that is the media manufacturing a full court press of a narrative over a "scandal" that all the important players in both parties say there's no conclusive evidence of having a crime that can be prosecuted. And the leaks from anonymous bureaucrats in the IC and turncoats in WH seeking to undermine a duly elected administration are practically a national security crisis, I'm decently read on this topic and I can't recall leaks against a President being this bad. It's a practical flood of leaks.
