NATO chief - the President of the USA has a 12 second attention span

When European diplomats meet these days, they often swap stories about Trump—and how to manage their volatile new ally. “The president of the United States has a 12-second attention span,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told a former senior official in April after meeting Trump in the Oval Office.
Not only that, this person told me, the president seemed unprepared and ill-informed, turning the conversation to North Korea and apparently unaware that NATO is not a part of the ongoing North Korea saga. (A NATO spokesman later denied this, saying "the Secretary-General never said this and it does not represent his views.")
Such anecdotes have shaped how Europe’s anxious leaders are preparing for Trump’s trip this week – he will come to Brussels for a NATO session on Thursday—and for another one planned for early July, when he visits Germany for a G-20 summit at which he is expected to meet Putin face to face for the first time.
Some of the reported preparations for the NATO session in Brussels this week suggest just how much the volatile-clown theory of the American president has now taken hold.
NATO has labeled the May 25 session a meeting, not a summit, and will hold only a dinner to minimize the chances of
a Trump eruption. Leaders have been told to hold normally windy remarks to just two to four minutes to keep Trump’s attention. ("This is routine," the NATO spokesperson said.) They are even preparing to consider a “deliverable” to Trump of having NATO officially join the U.S.-led coalition fighting the Islamic State in Syria, as Trump has said his priority is getting NATO to do more in combating terrorism. “It’s a phony deliverable to give to Trump, a Twitter deliverable,” said a former senior U.S. official, pointing out that the individual NATO member states are already members of that coalition.

What has NATO ever done without the U.S.? They're almost as useless as the U.N.
Without the U.S., China or Russia would own NATO.

From now on, if the gutless SOB saying something like this can't put his name to it, it's a lie. Trump should say the same thing.

Who gives a flying frick what they have to say?
Without us they'd be dead in the water

I would expect nothing else.
Despite their recent, less volatile exchanges, Trump and NATO aren't the best of friends.

Interesting
I seem to remember NATO coughing up ~$30 billion to meet their financial obligations so in that respect they must of been paying attention while Trump shamed them for about 6 months. Of course, the NATO chief is probably right but he just looks like a cuck.

When dealing with a narcissist, it's always helpful to insult them in the press. They're much better partners then.

I don't find this surprising. I would think the majority of very successful businessmen have short attention spans with people who cannot hold their attention. As far as not understanding the whole global political map, as a voter I knew this would require a learning curve on DT's part. That is something I accepted voting for a non politician.

NATO deserves less than 12 seconds of attention they are worthless.

Your threads usually require less attention than that.

Sounds like someone is salty about how Trump talked about NATO during the campaign.

Nato has degenerated into a failed bunch of "gimme gimme" poofters. They're jealous losers in a antiquated club. Spanky and Our Gangs "He Man Woman Haters Club".
Make them pay up.

This is a great example of trying to make a non issue into a issue. For some reason many people don't seem to notice this.
And anyway shouldn't they cut it to 11-12 seconds since-

What a terrible article.

12 seconds of unlimited attention from our God Emperor is getting a bit greedy. NATO needs to check they privilege.
