I'm not tech savy so excuse my ignorance. For instance, at my camp I play music through my surround sound but can only go aux cord to my phone which sucks for obvious reasons. Is this as simple as buying an adapter or what? Bluetooth would be phenomenal

Buy a simple Bluetooth receiver/transmitter of Amazon for $20, and plug it into the aux on your receiver.

what about a Chromecast Audio?
hooks into the aux input and connects to your wifi.

Chromecast is a way better idea. You don't have to be 20 feet from the device and your texts alerts and phone calls won't blast over the speakers. That is assuming you already have wireless at your camp.

This is what Amazon Echo Dots were made for. "Alexa play music"

My assumption was that there was no wifi at the camp. If there is, then Chromecast audio is the best choice.

Worry, forgot about this thread. Yeah, no wireless at the camp, so what you linked should work. Thanks
