Quitting alcohol?

Anyone tried it? I'm 46 now and have been drinking a twelve pack a day for fifteen years plus. Able to stay in shape because I work on my own farm. Never missed a beat, just wondering what it's like to be a sober baw these days and is it worth it?
I like working all day outside then imbibing. Doc says liver is fine.

Smoke weed. Be happy.

It might be time for you to slow down before your liver does. Beat him to the punch.

I do smoke on Sundays, it's the only day I take off. Not for religious reasons, either.

You're a small timer compared to the last guy that was drinking 12-16 16 ounce cans a day.
Never mind.

Life sucks when you don't drink, don't be a quitter

Seems like you're doing alright. What's your reason for wanting to quit Bill?

I drank about a 12 pack of tall boys for more than 15 years and my liver and kidneys are fine. So is my Glucose.
I have recently weaned off. I now only drink that much 1 or 2 days a week. The rest of the days are dry or two to three beers.
ETA: The key to weaning off, is to eat your meals at strategic times. After you eat a big meal, you dont feel like drinking.

Good question.
I was sober for my daughter's graduation and it was one of the most proud moments of my life. My son graduates tomorrow and I don't feel anything.
Really sucks.

I see people saying stuff like that on here frequently enough, and it's hard for me to understand. I don't think I could drink a 6 pack every day and still get up for work the next day after more than a couple of days, and I'm almost 20 years younger than this dude.
But anyway it is doing massive damage to these people's bodies and will likely catch up sooner than later. My Dad drank every day as a functional alcoholic, and it eventually fricked him up bad.

I quit for a year once just to do it. It was something to do. When I started back I didn't and still don't drink as much. Worth trying.

Nah, the other guy had only been doing it for 2-3 years iirc.

You just get used to the hangovers. I had a problem for years that was well worse than the OP's. You just come to accept that mornings are going to suck.

It's hard to stop once you go that far. Up until a month ago I had been drinking anywhere from 1/2-2 pints 5-7 days a week for the last 5 years (since I turned 21 actually). I'm down to drinking about 2 times a week, but it isn't easy to wean off. I was feeling pretty fricking shitty for a while, got the sweats and the shakes and all that. Not fun at all. Never plan on going back to that, weed is the way to go. Might just stop drinking all together, except for things like LSU football games.

Yep, mornings feel normal now even though I know the first couple hours will be hell. Can't even eat breakfast without throwing it up. But after 10am I'm ready to go!
