Any opinions on this? I just went to my first one for my lower back. Wondering if they are worth it.
Thanks

They are in fact doctors.
You are welcome.

This thread should be entertaining and somewhat informative.

I have a friend who got his degree in General Studies. Took 5 years to get that degree. He flailed around in corporate America for a few years. Went and became a chiropractor and now he insists people call him Dr.
To him I say

They have their place and serve a purpose.

I don't take chiropractors seriously, and I would not pay for a visit to one. However, they definitely make some people feel better in the moment, if nothing else, and having someone else crack your back is always fun. So you're not exactly getting nothing. Just not much.
Also be aware that some research suggests that chiropractors can in fact be harmful rather than merely a placebo: LINK

Legit... as in legitimately cause you a stroke?

You have to do more of your own homework in order to find a reliable chiropractor

"The med profession"? Thats a diverse field. Ill trust a neurologist/pain specialist who has been through much more training/education than a chiropractor

I went to one for a sore neck. They took X-Rays, cracked me up, then he took me into his office to show me how my neck is not shaped correctly and it will give me problems later in life and that I need to treat it now. (It was bent a little forward I think - spina bifida) He wanted me to pay for a month of treatment at one time because I would get one treatment free. I told him I wouldn't do that.
The next day I came in to do my "neck exercises" which included wearing a weighted thing on my head and standing on a vibrating stool while walking in place for 5 mins, attaching some rope apparatus to my head that was connected to the wall and doing squats, and him cracking my neck.
I noticed about 5-6 people coming in at the same time and doing the same exercises as me like clock work. Everyone looked like an idiot. This guy convinced everyone that they had the same neck problem. I knew then it was a big scam. Never went back.
TLDR: Guy was scamming everyone and convinced them they had Spina Bifida. I saw right through it and bailed.

There are a few that are really good at what they do. There are many hacks. It's a bit like finding a good lawyer. You'll love them when you need them.

Spins bifida??? Really, if you're gonna scam at least use a better diagnosable condition.
The least severe form is hardly recognizable and doesn't produce much pain or any other symptoms
The most severe sucks but shite sb is usually identified at an early age.

Not all chiropractors are MDs, but there are a few out there. I'd only go to one who is also an MD.

Yep! Spina Bifida! He tried to convinced me that if I don't fix it now I will be screwed later in life. I knew it was a scam when I realized he convinced so many others the same thing. He's actually a pretty popular and known chiro in Dallas, too.
He also had me doing some suction cup dry needling "because my muscles around my neck were so tense it was pulling on my vertebrae." What a crock of shite

Google strokes and chiropractors. 100% quacks.

I'm golfing buddies with an old drunk chiropracter and my wife's sister is a massage therapist and yoga instructor. They really, really hate one another and always end up in a bitter argument calling one another quacks and witch doctors. But my wife always insists on inviting both to all our parties. She's a little bit evil.
