Am I the only one that's surprised it took Comey this long before firing his first shot back at Trump? If this conversation really took place I can guarantee that Trump's boys already have a response ready to knee cap Comey at the appropriate time.

Was Comey's major problem lying? Stepping over boundary's, uses "can't comment" alot on hearings, and has bad timing on press releases, sure. But lying didn't seem like his thing.
The other person is much more murky in the realm of "truthfulness"

it belongs to the FBI. comey isn't going to release FBI documents after getting fired, and i can't imagine the FBI will release their documents without some court order or request and approval going through the proper channels.

Well the difference is that there are tapes (per trump), and memos, and transcripts that will sort this out.

Here's the cycle of how this story will play out.
- Damaging Trump story is released
- Media hyperventilates
- Trump supporters go into a shell, waiting for cracks in the story to appear.
- Trump detractors think this is finally the bombshell they've been waiting for
- A few talking/deflection points start making the rounds
- Trump supporters start regaining their confidence and latch onto to whatever deflection works for that day. If that doesn't work they will use the default "But Hillary/Obama" line.
- It becomes a Left-Right pissing match all night
- The next morning, Trump tweets something retarded that he saw on Fox & Friends.
- People move on to another Trump story that comes out 24 hours after the original story breaks
