Duke is going to be nasty next year with an actual stud at point that can break down a defense

Duke fans wrote the EXACT same thing last year when Frank Jackson signed up...and two years ago when Derryck Thornton reclassified to sign on.

"Frank Jackson is expected to help Duke win a national championship. He is one of the most talented first-year guards in the country, a McDonald’s All-American whose ability eventually transcended his home state. His size (6' 3" and a stout 205 pounds) and his ability to push pace and defend 94 feet make him a vital asset to the loaded Blue Devils."

"And now Duke has their point guard for next season.
Derryck Thornton has reclassified and committed to play for the Blue Devils next season, multiple sources confirmed to NBCSports.com...He’s the missing piece for the Blue Devils."

You left off Tyus Jones, I wonder why.

Jackson wasn't a true PG, and Thornton was too weak for dribble penetration and belonged in a pick and roll offense.

Duval looks to be a much better fit than both.

Sexton could be better, for sure. He is a great PG.

As for Jackson, he was never expected to be a point guard in the classic sense. He was expected to be a guy who could come off the bench and get 10-12 points, initiate offense and get some assists. He succeeded in all of those things, but unfortunately, for the second straight year, we had a PG with a delusional father who forced his hand into making a stupid decision.

Last year was a disaster except for the non conference schedule and ACC tournament. However, there are a ton of reasons for it. I'd start with the fact that Harry Giles is completely done as a basketball player, when the media and fans expected a top 5 recruit. PG play was an issue, but I wouldn't even put it in the top 5 reasons for failure.

I think next year's team will be bad by Duke standards. Maybe 22-23 wins before the tournament. Bolden was terrible last year, and this year's recruiting class is considered pretty weak on a national level, so I don't know how much our guys will be able to help.

Ultimately, we are starting 3 freshmen, a guy who looked awful every moment last year, and Grayson Allen, with a bench that consists of two top 60 recruits in a bad class, 3 guys who couldn't get minutes last year, and the lowest ranked recruit in the last 30 years, so I am definitely not optimistic after last year's shitshow.

However, I hope everyone will be back in 2018 except Carter, Duval, and Allen.
