Yes 90s was a bad way to describe the era. But that season with Hakeem wasn't an outlier you had Ewing and the Knicks David Robinson Shaq Zo Mutombo Mark Eaton Manute Bol and there are other guys like Larry Nance Shawn Kemp and the like who put up what tday would be league leading numbers. Over 90% of these guys either won or played for championships there's noway you can tell me they didn't impact every game they played in.

quote:So Lebron has to do more than get swept in the Finals but MJ didn't have to do more than lose in the 1st round of the playoffs with a losing record early in his career?
but a sweep no he has to do more.

Just wanted to pop in and say I like how civil this thread has become. Well done guys.

Even if the Warriors win the title the objective person would realize that best regular season record doesn't automatically equate to best team ever. I don't necessarily think the 96 Bulls were the best ever either. Too many factors to just go with most wins. Most successful regular season team every, yeah I will give them that.

But 2014 there's no excuse for an alltime worst beating that the Heat took, on that one there's no defense.
LeBron averaged 28.2/7.8/4.0 on 57% shooting. He had the highest game score for the series of anyone on both squads by a ton. That Spurs team just schooled Miami on the offensive end. They shot 60% on their eFG% as a team - essentially as good as a team as LeBron has ever been in a season.

You're right about that it is more spread but teams are still attacking the rim and I dunno if you saw these guys but Hakeem would switch off and check guards David Robinson was the fastest center to ever play and young Shaq could move too. See the tactic of pulling centers away from the hoop was used against Ewing early on but when Riley got to New York he started putting Oakley on any stretch player used to take Ewing away from the rim and he'd protect him in different ways. Ewing and Hakeem could shoot 20 to 3 point jumpers Robinson and Zo were great from 15-18 feet these guys arnt like Dwight Howard or Ben Walkace or any of the defensive type centers you see tday they put up all those numbers because they were great basketball players. I think that gets lost on the younger crowd.

So what you guys can't keep giving him wins when he loses. He had a big drop in assists and he turned it over a lot early in the series, he corrected it late but the series was already over. And how does he get a pass for bad defense? His counterpart won the MVP for gods sakes (which happened again vs the warriors FYI) This is what Lebron ppl do they reward him when he loses.

quote:Kareem had a legitimate argument, but I don't see anything other than the longevity and the sustained play that gives him an advantage over Lebron.
I think Kareem still edges LBJ. Go do some objective research on Kareem if you haven't already. He gets forgotten about and looked over but just look at his numbers and awards. For me he gets the nod over Lebron.

Nah. We're just defending his abilities as a basketball player while everyone else focuses on the team aspect.
We're trying to figure out who is the best basketball player of all time. If the argument boils down to rings, then you're clearly the inferior basketball player.
What does Player A do better than Player B? What does Player B do better than Player A?
Posted on 5/10/17 at 10:56 pm to buckeye_vol
Well longevity and sustained play will be the biggest thing that Lebron supporters will try to use after his career is over.

And how does he get a pass for bad defense?

quote:We are making the argument now, without that, so you assume that is going to be our go to argument then? But peak and longevity are both factors. LeBron's peak was phenomenal.

Majority of objective basketball critics and fans have this figured out already. Maybe you are behind the curve on that one.
Better statement would be that we're trying to figure out where Lebron fits in top 5.

quote:Yes. And they have him as #2. It's the probably the most common positioning, by a lot.

Apples to oranges and how does a first round series equal a finals series? But since you wanna bring up ridiculous and asinine statements why didn't Lebron even make the playoffs the first two seasons?

Lmfao I mean by your logic he can never lose even when he's beaten by record numbers so forgive me if I don't engage you anymore I try not to waste my time with fantasy.
Posted on 5/10/17 at 11:07 pm to slackster
Lmfao leave it to a Lebron fan to blame his teammates, funny that's exactly what he does. You ppl deserved that guy. Only Lebron fans can use math like 3-4 is greater than 6-0 but hey millineals are the first generation in our nations history to regress in every major catagory so makes sense.

quote:Because those who live in the first round, win a Championship 0% of the time. So LeBron's loss to the Spurs is worth just as many championships as MJ's losses in the first round, so when people only point, 0 finals losses, it is a ridiculous point (although the 6 part is a good point since he played well).
and how does a first round series equal a finals series?

quote:I'm not arguing that he lost; I'm saying that he played great so making it a 100% negative factor in LeBron's legacy is stupid.

Lol I love how you guys twist whatever fact you find contrary to your narrative to make it look favorable on him. Never has there been more double standards applied to a comparison.
