Players play the game. They can either produce or they can't. Like I've said before, when Paul makes a mistake, I will call him out on it. I did it when he took coomes out for slaughter.

There has to be a point, where you can't just go "RBABLEBEL PAUL MAINERI SUCKS" Sometimes your players just aren't clutch. LSU has a bunch of unclutch players right now. You can't teach that shite. When LSU players produce hits, we win. When we don't, we lose. Pitching has actually been really good since Kentucky debacle (even though it's against two bad offensive teams)

I feel like a lot of you are very vocal about losses because you love the tigers and the easiest target is the head coach. Last night wasn't on CPM, the Kentucky series wasn't on CPM (Kentucky is fricking amazing this year) The A&M series wasn't on CPM. Players have to produce or this year is over.

I basically agree, but batters can be taught situation awareness, and what pitchers are doing against them so they can adjust and maybe hit that ground ball with a man on third or the deep sac fly in the clutch.

Players can be taught plate discipline, how to compete better with two strikes, etc.

But players have to execute.

That wasn't a mistake... speed on first base in late innings down by a run.

Keeping Slaughter at the plate in the 9th was the mistake.

Cheers to ya, but I'm not so sure you are 100% correct...I commented earlier about the amount of change in the batting order this late in the season. I would have hoped by now that Paul could have figured it out, but, then again, his adjustments may not be all his fault, it could even make your points more valid...
I do think we have a great defense, our hitting is streaky, as is our pitching...

Here's to the Tigers to get on a roll...it's that time of the year...go big, or go home...

STFU poncho. This team has taken on the personality of the coach. Mainieri will never win another CWS at LSU mostly due to his constant tinkering and his whatever the frick you want to call that's the reason he has the worst staff in the conference and in the top 25.

yes you can. when appropriate, you most certainly can

but when the program has been falling short for 7 years in a row? that falls squarely on the coach. the head coach to be specific

because it's appropriate

this team, on paper, should be second to no one except maybe tcu. that is absolutely on cpm. i know the season isn't over but, you have to admit, it has been maddeningly underwhelming.

All those words and no one gives a frick

Mannn this shite goes way back before the A&M series, and way beyond this year. He lost me like 5 years ago when we had a couple shitty recruiting classes and he said "I was being lazy".

Wake up and smell the roses, he is a mediocre midget of a coach who has benefited from the tradition of LSU baseball

Uh huh but how about when the bases get walked full and the pitcher is struggling? Don't you send Watson up there after telling him to look fast ball until you get two strikes? You know the guy has to groove a fastball, and he did. Stuff like that drives me crazy but i know baseball guy thinks no one else knows baseball

What has happened with manieri is exactly what happened with miles

He lost a significant portion of the fan base. The battle lines have been drawn. Those that hate manieri can never be brought back. Even with a championship. Slowly over time more and more will move over to the dark side until the hatred is too great for even Alleva to ignore. It might take 7 years but it will happen

By OP logic, Les Miles should never have been fired. Had the players executed properly, we'd never have lost a game.

Well then who hired the coaches to recruit the players? That would be CPM

Explain why much of this roster was the same as last year and looked excellent compared to now? Hmm. Maybe it's the obvious -- coaching. Can not being here is killing this team and it's so obvious. Gibbs is not fit to be a coach for LSU, sorry. Anyone who thinks a hitting coach is useless doesn't know anything about baseball. They can teach you many things and the areas LSU seems to be struggling this year on Can seemed to put heavy emphasis on fixing. He was a great coach. I hope he keeps having success so he can be our next HC. Don't care the price. Bring him back.

There is only one player that actually has become better than when he started - that's Pap. Look at his OBP. Do you know why?
Probably because he gave a big frick YOU middle finger to Gibbs and pulmonary.

The rest of the garbage you're spewing is that - garbage.
Swinging and popping up giving opposing pitchers 4-5 innings of free pass is not clutch hitting. That is just simply smart hitting.
If you watch the Bergman with the Astros, you will see what I mean. He gets 2 strikes he is a different hitter. He gives up on that exit velocity bull shite that is spewing to hitters these days.
Gibbs is listening to crap that doesn't matter for most of these guys at this stage.
Deichman is useless lately. Why? He is free swinging and not liking to make contact by chocking up and fouling off a lot of pitches.

The hitting woes are squarely on Paul Mainieri.

Why even hire a head coach then?

Shitty luck for Mainieri to be randomly assigned this group of unclutch players. If only there were some way he could have some influence over which players he has, then it would be totally different.

Damn lucky getting randomly dealt players who are so good. Maybe we'll get the luck of the draw someday.
