Needing a recommendation for a chainsaw for around the house. Looking around $200-250 range. Thanks

Gonna need something with a little more kick. I have an electric, but this is a new construction. Gotta little more cleaning up than an electric can handle.

An electric one can handle whatever it's rated for better than a gasser can.
What size shite are you planning to cut, and how much of it? Are you clearing 50 acres or cutting up a couple limbs on a half acre?

i will never buy another gas one for around the house for as little as it gets used. And electric motors are way more powerful than gas.

Get a 14" Echo and TruFuel it. Electric saws have made big strides but they also have their own issues that need to be ironed out. A CS-310 is $200 and will last with minimal maintenance.

i'd recommend the kind that can attach to your arm if your hand gets cut off
check S-Mart
but im probably biased

I have a Stihl 025 and a MS391 but Echo makes solid products too with the advantage of being in any hardware box store.

Stihl is the answer.
I keep seeing commercials about Stihl Power Days. Was wondering if this was worth a look.
Thanks all!

Electric and a sharp chain. None of them will cut with a dull chain

I kept hearing them too. It's just the MS170 that is on sale. That's what I bought for $159. Haven't used to enough to form a good opinion but I think I'm gonna like it..

I got the EGO 16" and that bitch is bad.

My MS170 is getting close to 10 years old. It was all I had for a good while and I worked the shite out of it splitting firewood to help pay for college. It's a great little machine. I still put more hours on it than I put on my big saw.

I have an older Husqvarna 268 that will out work me. If you buy one get it from a real dealer and not lowes or HD
They stock cheaper lighter saws that will not hold up.
Never put even a drop of ethanol gas into it. Ever.

I have the Sthl 170. Great light chainsaw. Cranks with 2 pulls and has just enough power to do the job. The only thing I would do different would be to get the 190, but I am still happy because if it is not enough, I have 2 270s

Own the CS370. I work the hell out of it.I use it 3-7 days a week. Paid around $275 a couple years ago.

Echo.
I have both Echo and Stihl products, and the Echo's are much more reliable.

Would the Stihl MS170 be a good buy to handle this tree that fell at my house...along with only occasional use around the property in the future?

How big is that log? A 16" bar is all you can run on a 170.
