Because people think he can be the next Blaine Gabbert?

Sorry, it might be Jags fan PTSD but this is scarily reminiscent of the Gabbert saga.

Also I keep seeing Mitch Hedberg whenever his name is mentioned, its stupid, petty and nonsensical but Mitch Trubisky isn't the name of a Super Bowl winning QB it's the name of a hard-drinking 70s cop with a porn stache and a muscle car.

Ummm, his numbers are

68%-----288yds/g-----2.3tds/game------0.46ints/game-----158rating

It is honestly hard to be much better than that man

I'm more concerned about the number of starts.

For reference, here are Lucks stats

71%-----270yds/game------2.84tds/g-------0.77ints/game----169 rating

So you can not like him for reasons, but to say his stats arent there is just not true

Over multiple seasons.

In that offense, those numbers are not as great for a guy being talked about #1 overall.

UNC was next to last in time of possession in 2016, he wasn't on the field as much as other QBs

Your post actually explains exactly why scouts , GMs , etc are high in the guys ability. You used "only" and 300 yards passing twice in your statement. You do realize "throwing for over 300 (and very close in some others) in 6 games" and "He did throw three touchdowns and no interceptions in many games" are 2 very very big positives, right? Do you even football?

His numbers are good. But, they aren't good enough for the first pick in the draft.

Right. Shouldn't grade on a curve. A guy is either a franchise guy or he's not. He doesn't get to be a franchise guy just because he's the best available.
