Getting rid of rats from your house

We had a big tree fall last year and it knocked off a little vent on the side thr roofers forgot to replace. As a result I have a bunch of rats that have rested in my attic. I have caught 5 this week in outside traps. And I am closing up the house. But what is best way to get rid of the ones living in my House.

And quite possibly cause a bigger and far smellier one.

Run snap traps every day until they're gone

Throw a stray cat in your attic with no food. Problem solved

Cats. Our combines and rice trucks used to have their wiring destroyed every winter. Have a couple cats at the shop now and no rat problems

Cats.
I had a small rodent population that would invade my detached garage since it is right next to my neighbor's fence where she refuses to mow or do anything with the weeds. Looks like a jungle. Although I hate cats, when my wife brought home a stray, I reluctantly agreed to keep it if it remained strictly an outdoor cat. I now have no rat issue.

Good point, I didn't know how lethal they were on rodents until I got on the OB and found out that if you kill one, the rodent population will explode.

Don't put poison in the attic. You will regret this fairly quickly after one gets stuck dead in the ceiling, wall etc.

I have some woods behind my house and we keep a couple of cats specifically for this. I love walking out of my back door to find "presents".

Same for me. Except that bastard ate all of my garden lizards.

Collateral damage

Poison will make them die inside your walls. Seal up the entry points and use snap traps to get the ones already inside. Easier said then done but that's what I've been told by more than one exterminator.

Sit in your attic at night with some night vision, rat shot, and a six pack.

Invite some fellow OB posters over and have a good ol' rat killin'.

Good idea. Didn't know Bobby Jindal was for hire but he looks like a rat killing SOB.
