Have to move there for work. My commute from work right now is about 20-25 minutes and I don't mind if it has to be more than that. Id like a place to live somewhere between Mansfield and Shreveport so I could at least split my time over the next 8-12 months between the two. No wife, no kids, just a guy trying not to live in Mansfield.

Not a lot to choose from as far as eating establishments in Mansfield proper. I used to stop in at a restaurant in Grand Cane when I was down that way at lunchtime. Last time I was there they were losing their lease and were unsure about where to relocate.

Grand Cane is a nice town, but you are in the Mansfield school district rather than North Desoto. You have no kids so school is not directly an issue for you. However, if you buy a house in Grand Cane or in that area it is in the Mansfield school district and it makes houses hard to sell.

Stonewall and Frierson are both nice and are easy drives to Shreveport. Frierson has less traffic between it and I 49.

You can get a nice house in Mansfield for not a lot of money, but it might not be a great investment. There are a few areas in Mansfield not that bad.

What are you going to do in Mansfield?

In Mansfield, you have these food choices: two Chinese, three Mexican, two soul food/diner, a cajun food/bar place, and some fast food joints. There are a couple of good weekend BBQ places.

You can make a short drive to Grand Cane - Nonnie's has good food but it is mostly a lunch place.

On I 49, there is a rundown looking truck stop that has great Philly Cheesesteaks and gumbo.

I was just told last weekend that they are rebuilding the Pizza Hut there. I know that's not much help. lol

I would say try to cook most meals yourself, and eat out in Bossier City on weekends (Shreveport's water is awful, so I don't eat out there).

I drive through Mansfield occasionally and it looks like a nice friendly town.

Am I wrong about that?

Nope, everyone I have ever come across is nice there. I am in a hunting lease 7 miles South of town. Not much to do there. 2 liquor stores, one with a bar and thats about it.

My grandparents lived in Benson for 30+ years. Get up hunting there and shot my first deer in The metropolis of Catuna.

The hospital has good food, and a particularly good (and unhealthy) breakfast. The hours at lunch are weird = 11 to 1.

There are more than two liquor stores. Mansfield just voted wet and so booze is now available in Mansfield.

Don't speed through downtown - cop sits there fairly often.

Just live in Shreveport

It's not that far of a commute

That is unless you just want to live in Stonewall, which is just an overpriced burb.

I wouldn't know, never been.

I appreciate all the feedback. I'm gonna look into stonewall/grand cane.
