Right. Hill Country Blues. NOT Delta Blues.

What you are looking for is the beginning and end of all music, Junior Kimbrough.

“I didn't mean to kill nobody ... I just meant to shoot the sonofabitch in the head. Him dying was between him and the Lord.” - R.L. Burnside.

Junior Kimbrough has a great singing voice, doesn't he? He can sing in the higher registers which is rare.

Junior is the man. Check out some of North Mississippi All-Stars' tunes. The Brothers Dickinson and big Chris Chew on bass were/are his and R.L.'s apostles.

I love that song, and that particular performance. That video has had several plays from me.

Yeah, I honestly didn't know that there are TWO distinct kinds of Blues Music in Mississippi. I thought that it was all Delta Blues.
I think that I prefer the Hill Country sound.

The cool part is that in a few listenings to each, you can begin to hear their particularities.
This isn't necessarily Hill Country, but find the field recordings Alan Lomax did back in the day. Cat actually took the time to drive all over Mississippi and record OLD blues hands out in fields, front porches and the like.
I am convinced that the world would be a worse place if he hadn't taken the initiative to do so.
