The all day Saturday thing is great for college kids with no responsibilities.

The current format is probably better for grown ups.

They definitely did well to reduce the time between picks int he RD1.

I'll never forget laughing my arse off while Brady Quinn slid down the draft board. I was hung over as hell and staying with some friends in Lafayette for Festival International.

Yea it sucks now, can't exactly explain why but I always watched it when it was on Saturdays and haven't watched it once since it's been moved to Thursday

Ya, I have an incredibly hard time getting someone to meet up to watch the Thursday night part.

The all day Saturday was never an issue.

I'm so nostalgic over something that doesn't really matter

Nothing better than getting up early in the morning, making coffee on a Saturday, grilling, having friends over and watching the draft all day.

Yeah I miss that. It was fun.

I remember when the draft was during the day in the middle of the week. I recall going to my high school library between each class to see who the Saints took in the 1986 draft. They killed it the first three rounds.
I don't even remember what day the 1983 draft was on, or what I was doing -- if it was a weekday I must have skipped school, since I definitely remember being flabbergasted when the Chiefs took Todd Blackledge 7th instead of Dan Marino.

I don't recall if I saw this next, legendary bit live:

Dolphins pick Dan Marino

Marino slipping that far down baffled me for years. Now of course everyone knows there were rumors he was a total cokehead at Pitt.

It was. But as someone with a shitload to do every weekend with the kids,I'm selfishly happy the first rd is at night now. No way in hell I'd ever have 4-5hours to watch on Saturday.

Thursdays killed it. Why have a draft party on Friday for rounds 2-4 or a party in Saturday for 5-7? Didn't make any sense

From a 7th rounder that never even made the active roster. Really wasn't even worth covering. But you know how badly ESPN has fallen over the years.

I really liked the 30 For 30 film about that draft. I hope they show it again soon.

Thats what I was alluding to. The social aspect of the draft on a Saturday was unbelievable.

The ups and downs of those 04',05',06',drafts were also incredible.

Deep down, I'm sure the network execs pray for a QB to slide way down the board in the first round every year. All three of those years had that with Quinn, Rodgers, and Leinart. Then throw in the Eli/Rivers stuff and it was fantastic television.

Yeah, I remember the Manning pre draft drama in 2004. I didn't really think the Texans would pass on Bush at #1 in 2006. I thought he was going to be the next Sanders. Whoops.

Totally disagree. The 15 minutes between picks was ridiculous. Having Berman and his buddies try to fill time between picks certainly sucked. The new format is great and much more watchable.
