There is no doubt Fournette is an elite talent, one of the best pure RBs I've ever seen, but our offense is just not a good fit for him.

I'm not being ugly, but this is a thoughtless comment.

Go look at Denver with John Elway. He ran a prolific, pass-happy offense for years.
He got old and couldn't run it any longer, they became a run-first offense with an experienced QB at the helm, and won 2 Superbowls.

Switching to a run-first offense here, we could extend Brees' effective time by maybe 5 years.

Saints should trade up for Fournette. They need another face of the franchise since Brees does not have that many years left. Yes, the Saints have other needs but I believe Leonard is a HOF type player that they can't pass up.

Thanks for not being ugly. I don't think the situation is the same, though. Brees has shown zero sign of decline and we have showed zero signs of preparing to make a change like that. You could be right, they might be able to extend his career by changing the offense, but do you really expect Sean Payton to do that?

As our offense stands right now, Fournette is a bad fit for us. The guy has played his entire life running out of power formations and we play in the shotgun more than any other team in the NFL. We throw the ball more than any other team in the NFL. Fournette has 41 catches in 3 seasons - and yes, I know that LSU's offense is a big reason why. Doesn't change the facts though. Hard to project/scout what you haven't seen. As much as a player like Fournette could impact our offense, a player who can do a lot of both - like Le'Veon Bell - would be a way better fit for us.
