I'm circumcised

My son is circumcised

However, TJ is actually correct

In some cultures, female circumcision is common. We think it is barbaric. Well, other cultures think male circumcision is barbaric. People are letting their cultural emotions judge them differently. We eat cows. Some people think cows are sacred

The Chinese eats dogs and Americans lose their minds, but have no issue frickingn chewing down on a cheeseburger

This thread has devolved into arguing over whether circumcision is the same thing and is a microcosm of our national discussion on this.

This is far worse than circumcision. Even if you believe circumcision to be be awful, this is multitudes worse.

People get into defensive modes when it comes to criticizing actions such as these.

"Well, all religions do awful things."

"People circumcise their kids. That's just as bad."

Blah blah blah

Stop shifting the blame.

And some cultures are clearly superior to others.

Regardless of the reasons of why either practice started, female circumcision is barbaric. There are no known health benefits, it can cause a lot of painful complications and one of the somewhat recent studies shows that women who are circumcised are twice as likely to report no sexual desire (and over 50% reported that intercourse was painful).

Male circumcision does not deprive a male of an essential part of his sexual life and studies show basically no difference in sexual satisfaction. Also, there are health benefits. Uncircumcised males are more likely to get sexually transmitted infections and and their partners are more likely to get cervical cancer.
