Filed with the IRS on their website this year. I did everything on H&R Block as well.

H&R Block said I owed $2500+. IRS paid me out $1800+.

What's sad is how many people would have just assumed H&R Block was right since they're "trustworthy" without double checking all their numbers or trying an alternative.

Not an OT baller so frickin' right I'm happy with the result.

That's a serious discrepancy man.

Any idea what caused that?

My CPA charges $150. That includes any defense when the IRS, or state gov tries to rip me off. And when you make enough, they try their hardest to screw you.

Something isn't adding up. A $4300 difference would have been the result of a massively obvious error.

Huh?

Care to fill us in on your $4300 catch?

Filing online with HR Block is only as good as what you put into it. Put shite in, get shite out, or in this case, get a $2500 IRS bill.

Ya, I don't get it.

You filed your taxes paying $2300 and the irs said no that's wrong and gave you $1800 back?

better check it out, man...that kind of discrepancy sounds suspicious as hell and you don't want to be paying penalties, etc.

I did H&R one year when Turbo Tax was giving me some huge number that I owed and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. It cost me a lot to use H&R. I've since found actual CPA firms that will do my taxes for the same or even less that H&R block. And I trust them much more than the temp worker they have there.
