The rule should be that once the next round begins (not once the player has teed off in the next round), no penalties can be assessed for a prior round's play.

Otherwise, you could literally go back and review every single thing from Thursday through Saturday looking for something to screw some guy over.

The Tour needs to address this in a public way. Re-state the policy for all to hear.

Also, quite frankly, they need to stop taking calls, texts and emails from every Johnny Rulebook out there looking for the most minor of infractions. Tour players know a camera is likely recording their every move, plus you have fans all over the course. That should be enough. If all those eyes don't catch it the first time, then too bad.

The USGA addressed this a couple of years ago. Prior to then, Lexi would have been DQed for signing an incorrect scorecard. They now allow you to be assessed a two shot penalty and continue the competition.

I really don't understand why everybody is so upset over this.

Actually think is an issue. Some players have far more camera exposure than others. So the opportunity to catch something minor varies greatly as well.

Whole-heartedly agree. With golf being such a game of strategy to balance aggressive play versus avoiding costly mistakes (layup on a par 5 versus try to get on in 2), having your score changed on the 14th hole or really at any time in the next day of play is unjustifiable. If no one notices the infraction at the time or within the time between the infraction and the start of the next round, that's on the tournament officials.

Brenden Steele could have literally kicked his ball across a hazard yesterday and if nobody at the course saw it you would never know.
