Only one bidder has submitted a proposal to take down three Confederate monuments in New Orleans and is asking more than three times the amount the city has budgeted for the project.
Cuzan Services Limited submitted a $600,000 bid to remove statues of Confederate generals Robert E. Lee and P.G.T. Beauregard and Confederate President Jefferson Davis from public areas in New Orleans. The bid was opened Tuesday afternoon.
The requirements of the bid call for the statues to be removed by mid-May. Officials have said they will be stored in a city warehouse until a permanent location such as a park or museum can be found where they can be put in their "proper context."

I'll do it for half that.
ETA:
Wait do people actually give a shite about this?

Well that makes two bidders, anyone else?

Those offended should offer up the difference. The cost of not having hurt feelings should more than outweigh actual cost to remove these.

you would think there was a black owned company that would have a lower bid. Guessing the bid is so high because of potential backlash

Cuzan is a pain in the arse to deal with too. They'd probably frick up.

What are the odds the statues "get damaged"?
Posted on 4/4/17 at 2:28 pm to WPBTiger
It sounds like they are just removing the statues and not the bases as well. This is going to look terrible with just the bases sitting there with nothing on top.

Built in cost of the owners Lambo that will inevitably get torched.

I will do this for 100k. Rent a truck, some tools, and 10 mexicans for a day.
I'll make 75k profit.

It means they will put them in a civil war museum or something so people wont have to see them unless they are interested in viewing history.

According to my spreadsheet, you're overpaying your Mexicans.

I think they know that not many other bidders would actually submit a bid so they jacked up the price.

The tools are the cost, not the messicans.
They're getting paid in subway sandwiches. Whatever the $5 footlong is that day.
