The science behind Tom Brady's longevity

So how has Brady, in a league where hits are likened to car crashes, stayed relatively healthy? “I have no doubt that Tom Brady’s ability to recover is due to his lifestyle health,” says Fergus Connolly, football performance director for Brady’s alma mater, the University of Michigan. Connolly, who served as the San Francisco 49ers director of performance under Jim Harbaugh, believes that maintaining a healthy lifestyle – diet, sleep, strength, flexibility and spiritual/cognitive resilience – is a critical factor in a long NFL career.
“You can’t survive in the NFL without giving lifestyle an emphasis,” says Connolly, who just completed a soon-to-be-published book on sports science titles Game Change, “and for a long career it has to be all aspects.” In that sense, Brady’s longevity is more than just luck, his all encompassing approach to the variables that he can control has made Brady the master of his own destiny, making his desire to play into his mid-40’s all the more realistic.

We should all strive to be more like Tommy Brady, mates. Extra fresh green veggies for me, please!

Playing with a great o line most of his career certainly helped.

Banging supermodels is the secret to longevity.

He is a static QB that has a quick release and knows where the ball is going. He doesn't get hit much.

Also a staple of the diet of a goat.

Much of that likely helps him greatly, so does his incessant whining to the refs whenever a defender gets anywhere near his 10 ft radius (especially near his knees/feet). I don't have any big problem with Brady whining like he does, it's similar to a coach constantly yelling at the refs during a game to get calls. I'm just pointing out that it has been a factor in Brady having a long career (combined with rules to protect the QB).
