I'm very concerned I may not be able to keep up with you in a tax discussion. Why did your graph cut off in 2008? Dishonest or ignorant?
And why do you keep posting the historical top rate when you've already been informed of the differences in the code?
You are blatant about your lying. It does more harm than good to whatever agenda you are pushing. Leftists have not figured out that lying and fake news is backfiring. Nobody trusts you loons.

Is the middle class increase due to those in the middle class who weren't paying taxes before now paying taxes?
If so, I approve.

Yeah, the rich has really been 'soaked' since Reagan.
Anyone posting this immediately outs themselves as an ignorant fool.
You can't compare the rates over time. Especially pre/post 1986. The income definitions and allowable deductions have chaned WAY too much.
NO ONE PAID THOSE RATES. It was way easier to hide income in shelters and deductions.
I'd gladly take a 90% tax rate with 1977's shelter and deductions over todays 39.5%. If pay less than I do now. Easily.

It's like you're intentionally bad at this.

I thought Trump had his own tax plan?

I did forget to mention how conservatives like to reduce revenue while raising the military budget. It is their favorite thing in the world.
I'll give you that one, but they still wouldn't spend as much if they cut all the other nonsense spending. So i have a question for you. Are you for the rich being taxed more?

quote:Nope. The "middle class" ears FAR more income than the rich. I posted the chart for you above.
Because they have an increasingly higher share of wealth/income in this country over time.

Flat tax across the board.

I prefer a consumption tax model.

Are you for the rich being taxed more?
When it comes to making changes to the status quo tax baseline, I prefer to tax the wealthy as opposed to the poor or middle class.
I don't believe in the "trickle down" supply side philosophy. I believe that hiring and investment are business decisions and that very wealthy people's financial decisions are not really impacted by having a few extra dollars in their pocket.

This article is bullshite. One of the one positives of Trumps tax plan in an increase in the standard deduction. That helps the middle class bigly. Rich people itemize so that doesn't help them. That one fact alone makes the OP title false.
Edit- He wants to increase the standard deduction to 15k/30k. That's average savings of $1200 for individual and $3500 for a married couple.

I will rephrase my question. Are you supporting the upper class to be taxed at a higher percent than they are being taxed today?
Posted on 3/28/17 at 9:31 am to LSU12223
quote:I would need to see it in the context of a larger plan. I would like to see a plan that raises revenue while simultaneously seeing a budget that reduces spending. If we have an end goal in mind (like balancing the budget) I would be happy to pay more taxes as long as there were some cuts. And yes, that would involve the "upper class" paying a bit more.
Are you supporting the upper class to be taxed at a higher percent than they are being taxed today?

The upper class already pays "a bit more."
Posted on 3/28/17 at 9:33 am to redfishfan
You have to make under 15k for single or 30k for middle class?
