If we can get the Alex Lang who pitched on Friday night for the rest of this season we should win the west IMO. Lang was outstanding to say the least.

Well I think they willed their way to that last win as well. They could have and almost did lay down but they changed something up in that 8th inning. Now they know they can hit they simply need to be more diciplined at the plate. Make that pitcher get you out and when you see that fastball barrel it up.

Sure, Lange pitched well on Friday. However, can you really expect to win the west with hitting like on Friday and Saturday?
Posted on 3/27/17 at 1:46 pm to Bmath
quote:Yes, because the players won't hit like that every Friday and Saturday. For reference see the previous Friday game where we got 22 hits and 22 runs against Georgia.

Every weekend is different.

Good point but I'm not sure we are going to see that level of pitching back to back on a Friday and Saturday. All of our big SEC series from now on will be at home. We will be in contention for the west and if the bats get going again, I'd say we are the favorites.

lol, why are you trying to use logic here?

There many things than just one that were good about the weekend.
-Lange's performance
-Bain's performance
-Beck's performance
-Slaughter hitting .400 on the weekend with multiple XBHs
among others.

Pap's hit and drew a walk. He threw out 2, but air mailed one and put the other in the dirt.

How did Gilbert look? Was only able to watch highlights of game 3. Did he get the W?
Posted on 3/27/17 at 2:45 pm to DrewSimp82
Gilbert got the save. Bush got the W.
Gilbert retired all 6 batters he faced, five on ground balls and one strikeout.
He threw 15 total pitches to get the 6 outs.

Mainieri put Alan Dunn on employment probation because of it.

Every game is different. Sunday is a perfect example. 1 run the first 2 games plus 5? innings, then 10 over the last 4. Hopefully that game was a turning point offensively. But I'd rather them slump right now and turn it on in May/June. Too many times we've seen them get hot too early and cool off when it mattered. I'm confident they'll find their groove. Hopefully it's at the right time and lasts through Omaha.

And the mathematical equation is; +arm = not many/- arm = a lot
