If it's 11 we wouldn't do the deal. That makes no sense for anyone.

If anything it would be changed to 42 (only 10 picks down) and another pick or two to get the value to 32 (or a little over since you lose the 5th year).

No way in hell is (or will) 11 (be) on the table. We would have just signed him to an offer sheet if so.

This is also why I believe 32 is not what's being offered. Just avoid all of the collusion talk and trade a different pick(s).

I could see that too. I am pretty sure they are still locked in at the 32. My concern would be if the NFL intervened. I am pretty sure they will be modifying some rules around RFA after this year if this deal goes down.

Meh this happens EVERY time a RFA is traded. It's not new.

The only difference is the teams involved.

And it's not unfair to the RFA because if he doesn't agree to extend then a team won't trade for him and the system goes on as normal.

Me too man... I thought that he would have accepted the deal that went out late last week. His agent is playing hardball though. That Armstead contract being restructured pretty much says everything.

I'm sure it is not an easy negotiation with such an inexperienced agent.

I'm guessing he will get a contract similar to Gillmore

It won't be. We would have just signed him to an offer sheet.

Agreed. I'd rather just take a chance on a CB at 11 or 32 instead.

The most I'd want to give up...
#32
or
#42 & a 2018 mid round pick

I want it to be the 32nd pick too, but I don't understand why everyone would be all up in arms over giving up #11?

Wouldn't you want to draft an all pro guy at that spot? You're basically drafting Butler at 11 and tbh I'd be ok with it

ETA - I know it's not a popular opinion around here, but I wouldn't be too upset

No the point is that you aren't going to give up perhaps the best pick in the draft contract wise (top 10 has a 5th year option of the average of the top 10 players at the position, while the rest of round one has a 5th year option of the average of the top 25 players).

It's probably better to have pick 11 or 12 over 9 or 10 (unless you just miss the player you want).

You aren't going to trade that AND pay a guy big bucks. It just ain't happening.

It won't be 11. If they intended to give up 11 they would just sign him to an offer sheet, let NE refuse to match and send 11 to NE. There's a reason he didn't get an "official" offer. And that reason is bc they aren't giving up the 11 pick
