Daniel Berger withdrew last year due to injury and still made $47,000 so Day should still make money.
And I feel horrible for Jason Day. Terrible situation, and I can somewhat understand him trying to play through the tournament. But if it's bothering you 6 holes in, it's probably been bothering you all week.
Finau (alternate 1) could have either played in Puerto Rico where he's the defending champ or played here if Day withdrew in order to try and qualify for the Masters with a good week.
Again, more important issue is praying for the recovery of Day's mother and hoping she'll be ok but I do agree he could have handled it better.

so he and his doctors said 'screw it, she's not gonna live, let's go play golf' ... seems legit ...
ETA: Look, I'm done discussing it. Nothing good will come of it and I don't know much at about the situation or what he's going through. I hope she pulls through.

I think Day is milking the situation. His mom has been sick for quite a while now. And he's been playing while leaving her in Australia to basically die.
Damn. Should he have teed it up this week at all? No. But you have to be a real piece of shite if these were your thoughts after watching that press conference.

Now 4up through 10. He is so much better than everyone else right now, it's not even funny.

This course is so awesome. It really is perfect for match play.

means rory is out ...

He didn't play today. He still has a match left tomorrow.

Kjeldsen is beating Grillo 3up through 12. If that holds Rory is out. Kjeldse gets the free win tomorrow like Rory got today, he'll be 3-0. Best Rory could be is 2-1.
Not ideal to WD in the middle of pool play

I would imagine the players are royally pissed at the Tour staff and I think rightfully so. They knew high winds were forecast for today. Some of the pin positions are ridiculous.

Has anyone heard why Woodland withdrew?

It's a top 10 course in the country condition wise, a must play

big matches are sergio vs rahm, casey vs schwartzel, fisher vs furyk, and dj vs jimmy walker ... winners of those matches win their groups if a tie in a group goes to the head/head winner ... not sure about that rule ...

Dustin Johnson vs. Walker should be interesting

Ehh... I mean, it's a fun course, but I'm not sure it's top 10 in the country. It also helps that in the match play they reverse the nines.
Don't get me wrong, I like the course, and it's fun to play, but I don't think it's at that level quite yet.
