That Miami team was not the real Miami...everyone knew that...hell the real Miami had already been beaten by Notre Dame a few years earlier.

Jimmy Johnson...and mid-80's - that's the real Miami.

Bama beat a dying carcass for their first title in a long time and that Miami was because of name recognition which got pumped up in the media.

FSU should have been #1 but lost by total bullshite again...choke artists who can't kick simple FGs.

UW was better than Miami too...

Bama, FSU and Notre Dame and Michigan were all better than Miami that year.

Miami beat Arizona 8-7...AT HOME!!!!!!

PSU 17-14, Syracuse 16-10, etc.

That was the end of Miami and they did end. Gino Torreta, what a joke Heisman...

Alabama beat the dead overrated last nail in the coffin Miami...If Bobby Bowden wasn't snakebit and had mental issues against Miami...we could have had a cool final between Bama and FSU.

After this loss, Miami wouldn't be relevant again until 2001.

That Sapp team was pretty good but nowhere great.

That Orange Bowl - Sapp though was all over the field and almost single-handily beat Nebraska...but his arse got tired as shite in the 4th quarter...before that it felt like he was the only one making plays for Miami.

Sapp was a great great college player and of course Pro. People don't like him because of the stuff he says...but for a fat man...he was quick as shite.

The closest we've ever been , and for the near future will ever be to a super bowl was Bama-LSU 2011. There will be multiple NFL hall of famers that played on that field.

What is going to happen when Bama can no longer get recruits out of South Florida

You better get a time machine then. Usc will probably be a top team again but Miami will never be what they were 30 years ago. Miami was ahead of the curve recruiting athletes that have no business being in college. Now all the big schools do it.

Miami can always come back.

It's Florida.

real Miami or USC team would destroy Alabama right now

your troll fails because the teams as presently constituted are

1. Bama

2. USC

3. Miami

Bama is clearly above USC talent wise and Miami is off the cliff.

But Miami is never out of it.

Florida might even be above Cali in talent.

Miami will always have Florida I'f they get the right coach.

It's not like Nebraska.

Which is probably dead forever.

Not to that level. That was a product of them being the first to recruit inner city guys who nobody else would touch. Other schools caught on.

Actually their top talent comes from Louisiana.

And so did Ed Reed and Reggie Wayne.

Look out. The quickest way to get down votes around here is to say something positive about USC.
