True. But then you have situations like the one where I was in kindergarten. I got sent to the office and got my arse whooped for telling telling the teacher (who was female I might add) that the story she read in class one day was giving me a hard on.
I wouldn't have known that phrase if not for Top Gun.

They will get beat up constantly all because you are such a wimpy little bitch that you can't have a somewhat uncomfortable talk with your kids.
Some of you have a very simple understanding of parenting. Not taking a child to a movie due to activities being in it that I do not agree with does not mean I will not discuss such things with my children or that I am scared to do so.
There is nothing uncomfortable about having a discussion with my children about sin. My 9 year old is well aware that we do not encourage sinful behavior and that homosexual behavior is sinful. My 3 year old is too young to even understand what any of that means yet. None of that has anything to do with taking them to a film that glorifies sinful behavior or not. I will not take my children to a film that normalizes sin or paints sinful behavior of any kind in a positive light because children are impressionable and I do not want to give them the impression that I am compromising on sin through my endorsement of such behavior through a film I took them to see. If it is a film we want to see, we will simply watch the film at a later date, at my home, where I can immediately pause after any such interaction and explained to them that even though such activity is in this film, that does not mean it is acceptable behavior that I am encouraging and we can then have a full discussion about the why's or why not's. This often presents a great opportunity to explain to my children my worldview and why I believe the way I do. The movie theater is not the place for such discussions and you all are fools for thinking that is where such discussions should or could be had. By the time you get home from the theater, any such opportunity is lost.
What's most amazing is that the morons on this board need this spelled out for them. I reiterate my point that you guys should absolutely not ever become parents. You will fail.
I will not make another comment on this subject.

But if you hadn't seen Top Gun you wouldn't have this awesome story!

Saw it this weekend and loved it. I'm a huge Emma Watson fan and was glad to see her in the role of Belle. The rest of the cast was great. Will probably be seeing it with another group of people soon.
The "gay scenes" that the right-wing media and people are blowing out of proportion simply didn't exist. It was just Lafou idolizing Gaston a lot with some hints of being infatuated and a quick 5 second bit of him dancing with a man at the end. If that triggers you, you must have a miserable life.
Anyway, it was a solid 8.5/10 for me.

I'm assuming by your name, you are fat. You do realize that according to the Bible, that's a sin.

But did you even know what it meant?
In elementary, I got in trouble for calling the girls "lesbians". Well to me a "lesbian" was a girl who likes other girls. (I think I had heard my older cousins using the word or something) They all liked each other and were friends so to what I understood the definition to be, they were in fact, lesbians.
The school tried to punish me for this but my parents stepped in and told them no fricking way because I didn't even know what I was actually saying. Then they sat me down and explained what lesbians really are.
THAT is good parenting.

Yeah...With that kind of parenting, your kids are gonna grow to be the emo kids who hate everyone by junior high.

do you let your 9 year old watch Pirates of the Caribbean in which Jack regularly makes "under the radar" sex/booze jokes and references to hookers? Just trying to see where your line is.

I do love how the people that hate gays the most tend to be fat fricks who with their gluttony I see no difference between them and homosexuals in the eyes of a judgmental god.

imafatkids son would look at him with the most confused look he would probably ever receive if he tried to discuss LeFou's actions with him, which are miniscule at the most.

I'll put it this way. Lafou in the cartoon was akin to Rick McCallum sucking up to George Lucas in the prequels. Lafou in the live action film is akin to Liberachi.

So no movies that contain premarital sex, glorified violence, cursing, organized crime, theft, any supernatural or religious elements not involving christianity, drug use, etc.
Or do you perhaps apply a different standard to "sins" you find especially icky?

Not to mention the implied gluttony from his screen name that he subjects them to every single day. In the eyes of God, I can't imagine there's a real difference between someone who is gay and morbidly obese. And yet they're too stupid to see it.

And how many of them are divorced for reasons other than adultery?
What if christianity started treating no cause divorce like it treats homosexuality? What if those who remarried were considered adulterers as the Bible says they are? Millions of christians are living in unrepentant sin and don't even realize it, because so few know their Bibles.
What if they ask for forgiveness you ask? Too bad unless they leave their new spouse and either never have sex again or get back with their original spouse. The remarried couple whose initial marriages ended fro non-Biblically ordained reasons are unrepentant sexual sinners just like homosexuals.

I mean, yeah. That's how a smart person thinks. I just don't see the difference between homosexuals and the ridiculous amount of sins people are guilty of, but are somehow simultaneously pious about. We have "imjustafatkid", who presuably stuffs his face every night, and "ctiger69", who hates any sexual deviants despite the fact his screen name is after a sexually deviant position.
Claude Frollo is really a landmark character in pointing out their hypocrisy. Being pious and being horrible to others who are different from you only make you worse and dangerous that you think you have a murderous God on your side.

I'm actually surprised that no one else is talking about the black characters in the movie. Yeah, I know it's a fantasy film, but it is a fantasy film based in history. And when you look at the history, the casting of black actors in main roles amounts to nothing but stunt casting.
Beauty and the Beast is set in the year 1740. Yet slavery is not abolished in France until 1794. Despite this, we have three very prominent black characters who would not have been able to climb as high as they did on the social ladder.
- Pere Robert, Catholic priest. The first black Catholic priest was not ordained until 1854.
- Madam Garderobe, the maestro's wife. Interracial marriages/relationships were not legalized in France until 1792. There's no way this marriage could have survived so openly in French court.
- Plumette, Lumiere's love interest. See above.

This board..... I swear to Christ.
"A fantasy film based in history." For fricks sake. It's a movie about a witch that turns an 11 year old into a fricking water buffalo on two legs with a talking candlestick, clock and dishes as his servants. I mean, how historically accurate do they have to be?

I'm also sure this douche nozzle eats shellfish, cuts his hair and shaves, puts on clothing made of different types of fabric, if he's married, I'm sure his wife works meaning he isn't the sole provider of the family like the Bible commands him to be, I'm sure they never do any work whatsoever on sundays.......
The list of ignorant bullshite rules in the work of mythology called the Bible goes on and on and on.
The vast majority of Christians know little to nothing about their own religion other than what their pastor decides he wants to spout off about it, even though blindly following false prophets is also forbidden in the Bible.
Religion has been duping fools for thousands of years and I'm sure it will continue to do so for thousands more.

He's ok with sexually objectifying women, abuse of women, and sex as long as it's heterosexual. He also has a problem with people saying "curse words" even though there is nothing in the Bible that says anything about "thou shalt not use the words shite, damn, arse, or frick".
In all likelihood, he is a closeted homosexual who is also a super religious Jesus freak and because this stupid book of mythology says some very vague passages that people believe to be in reference to homosexuality, he has become a self loathing hypocrite who is damaging his kids far more than if he was just beating the shite out of them on a daily basis.
