It's nice to read a book, and see plays and exhibits. It's called culture.

Exactly. One doesn't need the government in 2017 to pay for these things to find culture. The world has advanced and technology is a wonderful thing.

“Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we object to a thing being done by government, the socialists conclude that we object to its being done at all. We disapprove of state education. Then the socialists say that we are opposed to any education. We object to a state religion. Then the socialists say that we want no religion at all. We object to a state-enforced equality. Then they say that we are against equality. And so on, and so on. It is as if the socialists were to accuse us of not wanting persons to eat because we do not want the state to raise grain.”

Yep, all art and literature will cease because of this.

My kid checks out a book every week from the library at his public school. We don't need to borrow money from China to read the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

You really want to print money or borrow money from China to print materials that destroy the environment?

Is this really your best response? I could've made 50 better arguments on your behalf, and I don't agree with your stance.

I agree. But the government shouldn't be involved. Books, plays, and museums existed before we all got conned into funding them with tax dollars.

Master craftsmen produce exquisite products that are enjoyable, satisfying and evoke thought and emotion. In doing so, they create saleable products that pay bills.

Performing and visual artists do EXACTLY the same thing but somehow their products transcend the need to be economically self sufficient because some ethereal greater good to society is delivered through their work.
