Along with agencies that help economic growth in the south and NE. I'm shocked he's also cutting the agency that investigates corporate chemical accidents. I'm not surprised a man who has no culture, who can't put together a coherent statement and has made a living off scamming people that these would be his first cuts. Not the bloated Military budget or corporate welfare but the programs to help people succeed and grow internationally. So we're gonna have people who can't read or understand culture be ruled over by corporations. Who knew idiocracy was a documentary?
With all due respect, this comes off as more whiny liberal b.s. The government should have nothing to do with books and fostering "culture." These are just liberal money grabs and give aways. Shouldn't culture be a locally funded thing, e.g., symphony, ballets, museums, etc.

They receive tax breaks...so in essence, the gov't is helping fund them by incentives to encourage donations/non profits.

Liberal bitch just trying to grab the intellectual high ground of superiority. Your arrogance is showing.

Most of the "groups for the poor" have DUPLICATE efforts elsewhere in the government that are far more effective.
Right. Like the meager subsidy for Meals on Wheels, which delivers meals to the homes of elderly shut ins. It's a program that only takes pennies to operate and delivers meals. It was started because we discovered that the aged and infirm STARVE TO DEATH IN THEIR OWN HOMES when they are too weak to get to a store, or too old to drive.
Keep lying to yourselves sheeple. "Trump is good. Trump is good. Trump is good."

And? People shouldn't have to be interested in things that you want them too just like people shouldn't be able to tell you who to frick.

You are a pathetic wretch. These cuts are wonderful. The fat bloated unnecessary shite is being cut out. You should be thankful that snivelling liberal snowflakes are not "cut" (yet).

The poor don't access culture. Culture is aesthetic and theoretical. It's not connected to their lives or mindsets in any real way.

Yep, Bill Clinton made sure of that during his tenure with that federal surcharge tax on your phone bill. I'm pretty sure the tax is still there. MOF, he gloated on the fact that it would make the internet available to all of the U.S.

Government grants make up less than 5% of Meals on Wheels funding. Take your hyperbolic caterwauling somewhere else.

And TJ is back in the lead for board's biggest tard!
Good job little buddy. I know you had to fight off a serious effort from Strong Safety the past couple of days, but you held tough.

Which use to be done by family and friends of that needy person but America got lazy and opted for the government taking over their empathy for those needy people.

How many people borrow money to pay their cable TV bill? Constantly borrow money to pay it, over and over? I am certain there are some that do, whether directly or indirectly but most people with common sense are going to cut the cable TV off when/if they cannot afford it.
Besides the fact that many of these programs and agencies are duplicated in another program or agency, we are borrowing money to pay for "nice things" that make some folks feel all warm and fuzzy. Government at all levels has a spending problem and they really need to get back to being stewards of the taxpayer's money, rather than a teenager with daddy's credit card.
If a program is redundant or duplicated somewhere else, it should be cut first. Then you focus in on waste in the remaining programs and cut that crap out. Everyone throws the "military" up in this argument but a lot of the redundancy/duplicated effort across the services have been consolidated over the last 10 to 15 years. More can be done to cut out the duplication of effort - IE The Army flies more rotary wing aircraft than all of the other services, so entry level flight training for all services should be consolidated under the Army for all branches. Just like the AF flies more fixed wing aircraft than the other services, so fixed wing entry level flight training should be consolidated under the AF. However, when it comes to the cutting the legislators in those districts where slots will be cut will scream and holler and come up with every excuse under the sun why this won't work.

All items that should be supported locally.
Totally ok with this.
The nanny state has to end.

Jobs programs to Lib Constituents; mostly Minority hires most likely. Vote buying in effect. Good or bad re the macro-economy...I don't know. But I would support government spending to rebuild infrastructure; delivering real and tangible goods and services, as opposed to fat people sitting at a desk.

The director of the National Symphony makes $2M/yr.
The Director of the National Gallery of Art and the American Museum of Natural History both make over ) $1M.
Are we funding arts for the poor or are we subsidizing arts for the rich?
PBS could fund itself off of licensing deals for its kids shows (I'm sure it doesn't work that way now).

Exactly. Libs gets all pissy when CEO of private business make a ton of money but don't think twice when some government lifer is getting rich off the taxpayers.
