why buy a truck if it isnt 4x4?
I really don't understand the question. I pull a 5th wheel. The 4wd on my last two trucks was a waste. Having a 2wd is such a great change.

if someone is trying to maximize the towing capability of a half ton truck then a 2wd definitely helps a bit.

uncle bought a new 5th wheel about 9k lbs and bought a new 2wd tundra to pull it with within past yr, he put airbags on it and he said it helped quite a bit.

I shop for them by tongue weight primarily to get as little weight over my axle as possible. Those things vary a lot by floorplan.
