Have the chance to buy a 2000 model with the 7.3. I know a good bit about the motor, I know it's the preferred motor to get in them. I know they are heavy as shite.

This one is 4WD, 2 owner vehicle. Has 3" lift and some BFG all terrains. It is the limited, not the xlt trim. 230K miles on it. Supposedly no major mechanical issues. Second owner says he has all his service records.

I've been looking for a used diesel (7.3) for some time now. I'll be going from a 150. Tell me your experiences with yours. Give me the good, the bad and the ugly.

Just bought a 2000 limited with the 6.8 gasser in september 120k miles. Pristine condition. Wanted the 7.3 but owners wanted a mint for the diesels. Originally was going to be the travel trailer puller and weekend truck but mrs rattle loves it so we nixed the minivan idea in addition and its her everyday grocery getter and kid mover. We have 4 kiddos so needed the seats and pulling capability with the butts in seats. We love it. Just get it.

No experience with the diesels but my mom bought a v10 version new in 2002. It lasted all the way until 2015 until the engine gave out. Probably had 250,000+ miles on it. Good vehicle

Had an 01 limited with the 7.3. I miss it everyday. I put a K&N cold air intake, MBRP turbo back 4" exhaust, and a bullydog 6 way tuner. That vehicle was the Bees knees after I put that on it. The MPG went into the upper 20s on the highway and it had the right amount of pep to it.

I loved that tank.

Bought that exact truck, 2000 limited 7.3, brand new and kept it until 2010 putting 175,000 miles on. Never had anything go wrong with it only sold it bc of divorce in the family/didn't need it anymore/got a good offer

If you are willing to deal with it being so damn big and lumbering it's a helluva truck

See if you can bring it to a reputable diesel shop or pay a good diesel mechanic to give the engine a once over. Check out the steering and suspension joints for sure.

If you get it, I'll be jealous. Those things are bad to the bone. Post pics after purchase

Rattle I thought that was you on here that had recently purchased the V10. I passed on one of those a few months back. Not because of motor, but interior had seen better days. That's funny about the wife ending up driving every day

This one would be my dd and depending on work, I could put some miles on this sucker real quick. I was hoping to find one with about 150K on it, but they still want $20k for those!

LOL

no one's getting near upper 20's unless driving 200 miles down a mountain with a 40 mph tail wind

Trips to Dallas and Destin with a 26mpg average using miles divided by gallons tells me I was.

My average mpg went from 14 to 19 when I upgraded those parts.

Yea you can easily get around 19 or 20 out of a 7.3 with a programmer and that's just everyday driving

I want one as a trailer puller and a possible long haul truck.
I am thinking of going to a car based SUV from my truck and want something used as a fourth vehicle.

Had an 01 F250 with the 7.3. Sold it to a Hispanic fellow for 1500 bucks when the fourth transmission went out.

Had 367,000 miles and no motor problems. Driver seat was mashed pretty good.
