Wtf happened with CTRV. It shot up during after hours and is now way low. The news was good right?

I think the presentation is actually tomorrow. Or Saturday

What would you say you have profited since starting 2 years ago?

I agree with others. RobinHood is a little less intimidating than TDA. You'll learn the jargon as you go along.

"178% of float short" What does something like this mean? Alot of people talk about the float.

Ahhh the day I want to start trading is the day MMEX volume is nonexistent and I can't play.

smart man, all the bears rant and rave about how GM and Ford are gonna blow the doors off of it soon, but nobody really understands that the game is over and Tesla's domination is really just beginning and big auto has almost no hope of competing with them.

well you can't have 178% of the float short. The float is just the number of shares available for public trading and that is giving the percentage of those shares which are shorted. You probably wont see that number over 50%. Shorting stock is just borrowing shares hoping to sell back later at a cheaper price. So you think the price is going down. Personally I wouldn't ever short stocks... because you have to use margin to do it.
For stock purposes a low float means high volatility, so you can use the float to measure risk to an extent.

The "news" was not actually new. It's data that has already been known just not presented on. In December, CTRV announced that they would be expanding their phase two trial on TXL. They are increasing the dosing of their drugs to over 100mg per day dosing. They planned on at most testing the dosage at 150mg per day. CTRV cites its strong antiviral activity at high doses and its continued safety profile as reasons to extend the trial. The Safety Advisory Board has also suggested they should extend their testing to find the limits of the drug. The market took this as the results from 100mg per day dosing were not good. The share price fell on the day of the announcement from $1.90 to $1.30. The CEO disputes this though saying "We finished the 100mg cohort, but we found very good results, quite frankly. We were able to 'proof of concept' 25mg and we saw some great data at 50 to 100mg, but we met with the safety advisory board who said we could continue to push the door"..."and I think that might have been misread that this gets pretty expensive, but it's not it's minimal cost"
Many thought CTRV was going to present today on the results of the expanded tests. However, they presented on the 100mg data, which was already known (still good news though as it showed that TXL was able to accomplish its goal at a much lower dosage than Viread; 100mg compared to 300mg). The stock was up 20% before hours than closed down 6% after the market understood what was being presented. CTRV still has another presentation this weekend though, on Saturday.

Who's seen AUPH after hours?
Holding $7.50s now with 1.2 million volume
“The most exciting aspect of this data is that voclosporin is the first treatment candidate to successfully meet all of its clinical endpoints in a global, prospective LN trial,” said Dr. Samir Parikh, a clinical investigator for the study and Assistant Professor, Clinical Nephrology at the Ohio State University. “Voclosporin, when added to standard of care, achieved the highest complete remission rate of any global, active LN trial, and this was accomplished with extremely low-dose steroid exposure. The possibility of achieving a better clinical response while avoiding the significant side effects associated with prolonged exposure to high dose steroids has the potential to be a game-changer in the management of LN."

I'm holding as well. I wander if this stock is shorted back down though in the coming months without any significant upcoming catalysts.
