man, how do you deal with that as a parent? is she uncomfortable about her height? cause if we have a daughter, she'll probably be in the same boat.

My parents were 5'6 & 5'8. They always acted like my height was super awesome, so I never really wished I were shorter. Like his daughter, I don't enjoy being the center of attention, but I've learned to deal with the daily "how tall are you? Did you play basketball?" questions from strangers with grace.

We knew early that she was, and was going to be, taller than most others. We instilled in her that it was cool every time we put the new measurement mark (With date) on the doorframe. We did this without making too big a deal out of it. It was never a contest.

We also stressed academic achievement and love of knowledge for the sake of knowledge. This led her to having friends that were more concerned with AP calculus than her height. There is a pack of them that are similar and she is the 2017 valedictorian.

We also let her know, as she became more self-aware of the height thing, that she should never worry about uncontrollable things.

For your future child, understand that having almost a 4.6 GPA does not get a full ride to a good engineering school. A volleyball scholarship will. Mine chose academics over sports and modeling. I could not fault her for choosing academics.

Good luck.
