Yes another thread so I can bitch.
I think a 23% increase in my cable internet is outrageous. I've always been one of the last holdouts as I do like watching live tv - conveniently. I'm seriously now considering doing the unlimited data plan with the phone company. The unlimited could be the game changer for me. Yes I wouldn't be able to watch as much live, but the cost of cable/internet is out of control.

As long as you know they prioritize after 23gb and if you're in a congested area they will throttle your internet..

If you plan on using ur cell phone to steam tv you will blow through the 23gb in a few days.
Check to see if DIRECTV has internet service in your area via att, as the directv bundles with uverse internet are dirt cheap right now.
Spectrum bumped my cable/internet package about 20% as well and I just switched to directv and am very pleased

Cut the cord. Kill cable. There's absolutely no reason to have it anymore.

My parents switched to Att/DIRECTV from cox. Internet is horrible now. They got s good deal, but the speeds you pay for aren't good for anything.

If you have no other decent options, drop down to internet only with Cox before your bill hits $200. It will get there before you know it.

I mean, there are some cable channels that I really would like to have. I was thinking about doing the opposite. Trashing my Internet service with Cox ($70), and upgrading my phone service to Unlimited. It would probably be a wash to what I have been paying with my company discount for my phone.
Suppose I did cut the cord, who is the best Internet Service Provider?

I was able to get 45mb uverse, which is fine, but I did previously have 100mb cable internet and downloads are noticeably slower.
My parents, who live in a townhouse only a few miles for me, are only able to get 3mb from uverse, which is unusable for anything besides light downloading and web surfing.
Uverse is a type of dsl, and an inferior product to cable internet, but depending on your needs and the speed available, it's a ymmv situation.

I honestly feel sorry for anyone stuck in a place where Cox is the only option. I have either Spectrum (what used to be Verizon in Texas) or Time Warner and the competition is good. I get 200 Mb service (no cap) for $59 a month. Before, I was with Verizon Fios and it was 50Mb service for $85 a month.

Cox is eventually just going to crank up the internet cost.
Or tier the bandwidth to nail cord cutters. It will happen. Just a matter of time.

I would just call Cox. I started at $110 for cable/internet. Bill went up to $165 at the beginning of the year. I called and just asked if I could get rid of HBO. They knocked my bill down to $120 and gave me HBO for no additional charge.

It sounds like they gave it to you for $10 a month. Which is $6 more a month than if you would've just added it yourself.

I would just call Cox.
I used to do this song and dance every two years.
I also call to cancel Sirius every 6 months.

We told Cox we were getting rid of cable because it cost too much, and they gave us one of those boxes to get all of the local channels for free for a year. He said to call them again in a year and they will probably extend it.

my understanding is there is only one cable provider in a certain area; ie. if you live in an area serviced by Cox, TWC or charter is not an option for you.
You should, however, be able to access internet via a dsl provider such as att uverse, or one of the other regional phone providers.

Just signed up for ATT fiber tonight, they are installing Thursday morning and I will be cancelling everything from Cox as soon as they are done. $70 a month 1GB download speed and unlimited data (I know it won't actually be 1GB lol)
