At this point, the Coach Jones bashing is really unnecessary

99% of the posters here clearly want Coach Jones fired, and have made that point over and over. I understand your position, even though I believe that LSU basketball will be in a similar posture at this time next year if a new coach is hired. But, most of you know that, regardless of how you feel about his coaching, that he is a good man. If he is fired, why the continued disdain? Most of us agree is he is good guy, so lets move on without a month or two of unnecessary insults.
I hope we have a nice run in the SEC tournament. Maybe I'm loyal to a fault, but I still support Coach Jones.

And you've made it clear you are a JJ apologist.

He's one of us, so he earns some respect. He's just in over his head, best of luck to Johnny.

This is a fair statement.

Im sure there's a troll panic room of some sort out there you can totally lock yourself in.

I agree bashing the guy serves nothing at this point. I wish him the best of luck.

Because his terrible coaching has seriously damaged the basketball program. Certainly, it is mostly Joe Alleva's fault for hiring and keeping someone so clearly over their head. But JJ is still collecting those paychecks.

CJJ gave his all. He's just not an Sec caliber coach. He bleeds purple and gold so he should never be bashed. It was an experiment that failed... Onto the next coach

No, it isn't. He couldn't even make the NIT with Ben frickING Simmons.

I agree. On the other hand, chinhoyang bashing needs to increase significantly.

You're an exponentially better troll than Jones is a coach

Then you don't know anything about basketball. JJ, while a great ambassador for LSU and nice guy, is an awful coach, especially the X's and O's part of the game.
Call it bashing or whatever you want, but there is literally nowhere to go but up after a season like this.

I wasn't for hiring Johnny, but I pulled for him and initially I thought I was wrong and he was building a good, solid program.
Well we all know what happened, but it still isn't good to see one of our own fail. Especially a nice guy and a Tiger.
I'll wish Jones luck and I hope he finds peace of mind later on.

It's been time for a change, but I hold no personal animus towards Jones. In a day and age where college coaches are virtually nothing more than highly paid mercenaries (figuratively speaking, of course), it was a bit refreshing to have a guy in Jones who genuinely loved the university and had visions of doing great things here. Even if he would have had great success at LSU it's doubtful that he would have ever wanted to leave.
The basketball fan in me says the change is LONG overdue and I'm glad to see it come about. However, the human side feels great empathy for Jones. It's rare that a person gets their "dream job/opportunity." Now that opportunity is coming to an involuntary end. I can understand that disappointment that comes. Reports from his last weekly luncheon were that he became a bit choked up discussing he and his family's love for LSU and the Baton Rouge community. He kind of knew the ride was coming to an end. There may have been a lot of flaws in Jones' coaching abilities, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find many flaws in his character.
I'm glad LSU is finally moving on, but I wish Jones luck in whatever he decides to do going forward.

I like him as a guy but it's time. It appears he's done. I don't need to bash him now. Hope he lands on his feet elsewhere

I think that is going to be difficult for him.

I'd like to thank him for his service but im afraid Alleva would mistake that for fan outcry to keep him another year.
