Official Nier: Automata Thread

Reviews are starting to trickle in
For those not familiar:
I dont want to spoil anything, but there are multiple different "game types." For example, in the first Nier, it's action RPG like what you see below, but there is a text adventure part, an isometric, Diablo-style part, and side-scroller/top-down bullet hell segments. I know for sure that Automata has the side-scroller and top-down parts, so play them demo to see for yourself.
When you "beat" the game, it's not truly over.
Kinda concerned because Amazon still says they're trying to figure out my delivery date. Ill be pissed if it takes a few days, but itll give me time to finish RE7 and Horizon.

Invaders from another world attack without warning, unleashing their secret weapon: the machines. In the face of this insurmountable threat, the human race is driven from the earth and takes refuge on the moon.
The humans develop an army of android soldiers to fight back against the mechanical horde, but succeed only in slowing its advance. To break the deadlock, a new breed of android infantry is sent into the fray: the YoRHa squad.
In the forsaken wasteland below, the war between the machines and the androids rages on. A war that is soon to unveil the long-forgotten truth of this world…

In the end, NieR Automata’s story is profound, at times heartbreaking, and in other instances you’ll spot tiny glimmers of hope. It’s an expertly crafted story that’s uniquely presented to toy with the way you perceive characters and the world surrounding them. It’s a crazy ride from beginning to end and one that completely blew me away, in spite of my own absurdly high expectations.

Nier Automata shines as a magnificent action game and a strong open world RPG with an amazing narrative. Charming, full of surprises, unique, deep, powerful - it is indeed an amazing entrance in the series that can please fans and newcomers.

After spending well over 20 hours in this post-apocalyptic cyber world, I still can not put NieR: Automata down. While the original was clearly a niche title that failed to make a massive impact, the sequel was designed to keep the original charm but appeal to a greater audience. Easily one of the better titles from Square Enix, thanks to the Platinum Games putting their foot into the fantastic combat system. The story is interesting, the music captivating and the world has its own charm and personality. Another reason to own a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 4 Pro.

The 2nd gif is amazing. I hope those are a good representation of the finepoint controls.
I really want to play this game but I'll probably have to wait until next month.

What's the deal with the little drone hovering at her shoulder?
Posted on 3/6/17 at 2:11 pm to TideSaint
It is essentially your gun.

Game is entirely about robots, so it's your robot helper.
Also a throwback to the book character in the original Nier which floated above your shoulder in the same way. He was used to cast magic.

Oh boy. I wonder what you think about actual weeaboo games.

You're one of those people that made the judgement on the game sheerly because of all the shite you saw about 2B and her upskirt
Posted on 3/6/17 at 5:21 pm to FourThreeForty
You can blow her skirt off.
Posted on 3/6/17 at 6:25 pm to Carson123987
I'm only getting this game because Carson recommended it.

Amazon was showing "no delivery date" on my order and I contacted customer service. They said that they didn't have enough copies to ship and upgraded me to 1-day shipping for when they get em. Got a notification that it'll be arriving tomorrow. Whew

I got the Black Box Edition from Square and UPS let it sit at my local post office since Morning morning. I know they could have delivered it yesterday!

That awkward moment when you can't save until after the first boss. Misjudged a bullet and got one shot so there goes 40 minutes of progress
