Leaving Endymion last year, the wife and myself drove down Carrollton. We were both shocked that they allowed traffic on that route. We basically drove parallel to the parade. Crowd was so large that we had to weave in and out of packs of people in our vehicle.
Only a matter of time until an accident would happen. Hope everyone pulls through...

We left uptown and headed straight to Canal and Broad. Needless to say after hearing about the accident and the darkness that surrounded us, even though we were at a private secure party we decided to roll out and take the kids to safety. Otherwise I was ready to stay all night.

It's one of those things that it's always been done that way so it's ok. Very dumb and time to reassess. Pretty certain you can drive on the opposite side of St charles and napoleon too.

Don't know if it's been corrected, but it is a Silverado.

There's a photo online. Blue pickup with Louisiana plates. 1 arrest made. Looks like it stopped when it ran into the side of a dump truck.
21 injured including a cop.

They finally closed St Chares last year but people still go around baracades. I bet there are memos ever year from someone in the city or NOPD recommending that carollton be shut down but they told no.

One injured is a female cop. Some of the cops on scene worked the uptown shooting earlier.

Shooting= guy who's gun went off twice while he was using a portolet.

A gun didn't shoot out a bullet and hit a random man...?
quote:
A 36-year-old Metairie man was wounded in a shooting Saturday afternoon (Feb. 25) near the Uptown New Orleans parade route at St. Charles Avenue and Napoleon Avenue, a heavily crowded intersection where hundreds of people had gathered to watch Mardi Gras season parades. Police think the victim was shot when a gun accidentally discharged inside a portable toilet on the Napoleon neutral ground, but the gunman was not immediately found.

Didn't a similar accident (drunk person running people over in a parade or partying in FQ) happen last year?
I feel like we've had this thread before.
Hope all those injured make quick and full recoveries.
