$1? damn...
That being said cost of college is outrageous and it's growing rapidly. Something needs to be done and quickly.

It is, the cost, outrageous because of the student loan monies flowing into colleges.
We had loans for two of our three children, all paid off.
One child went to reputable university and graduated.
One child went to a disreputable college, which we learned after the fact - our fault to a degree - and am currently seeking restitution
Youngest child worked her way through college.
We failed to save, biggest financial mistake in our marriage

quote:Government backed/easy-to-get loans are the problem. There is literally zero incentive to keep costs down or to even limit enrollment. The school gets their money no matter what with no consequences if a student drops out or can't pay his/her $100k loan for a history degree.

It's not the college's fault for raising tuition with high demand. It's not like they care where the endless money comes from (the federal govt), and as long as it's not the students paying upfront, they won't care either.

Too many idiots going to school, racking up debt, and getting degrees that dont land them jobs that allows them to pay their bills.
