Looking to build a 1.5-2.5 acre pond at my ranch. Good soil with red clay. Any idea on what this should run?

Call NRCS. If you are eligible for their program they may take care of most if not all of the cost. Basically it's for them in the event they need it to fight a wildfire in the area, and need the water.

You may want to look up NASCARFAN. He built a model-scale version to help people understand how ponds work.

Do not look at if from the point of building a pond.

It is I want to sell dirt.

I am currently getting quotes for this in South LA. They are all pretty similar. 2,500/day. That's to dig, spread soil or haul away. Typically .5acre per day. That's assuming you have good subsurface clay to cap and retain water.

I'm disappointed in all of you for not directing OP to the Pond Boss Forum for help. Of course we all knew this would turn into a NF pond bashing thread, but OP needs help damnit.

I'm interested in this as well. My family is thinking about doing a 5-6 acre pond depending on cost. Hopefully it will be $30k or less.

Took contractor 13 days to excavate our 10' deep 1 surface acre pond, build shop pad, house pad and pile up excess dirt in South La.
All excavated soil remained on our property
