FYI to the OP...that's not the correct route. Endymion rounds Lee Circle and heads back towards the Dome, where it ends...not at the Convention Ctr
Yeah, I'm wondering where he found that jacked up graphic. That's not the route of ANYTHING.

I would try Delgado towards the front of the parking lot. You will get to see everything. The crowds are the least thick until to get close to Claiborne. There will be some daylight left for most of the parade. It's by far the highest concentration of kids. Plus if the kids want a particular throw, it's easy to get as people jettison stuff to make room to stand.

They rolled into Convention Ctr like 5 years ago, around then, but yeah did not look at the map posted.

I thought the riders weren't allowed to throw anything until they crossed over City Park Ave. and onto Orleans.

don't have to be right up front to catch stuff, those guys like to show off their arms, so standing back on the neutral ground will not be a problem.
Especially if it's a group of kids. It's the reason I buy dozens and dozens of footballs. I had kids running routes on the other side of the neutral ground last year

That's correct. The throwing begins as the parade starts moving; the floats are staged almost to the tracks. I was referring to going up to the barricade and asking someone on the float. Someone walking by or a policeman will pass things though.

Park somewhere in midcity like around American Can and back up in that area, get there relatively early in the day.

That's the route from when the dome was being renovated.

That's what we are told but no one ever listens.

Where is a good place to stand along the route that has decent access to parking? Maybe somewhere towards the beginning near City Park? I will have a small group of 11-12 year olds with me so trying to find an okay spot. This is the route:
I need a strategy to get home after the parade. Will be watching at the beginning on Orleans and need to make it back to the warehouse district before I'm blocked off from that area. I think my only chance is to leave right at the end of the parade or even before and somehow get to the interstate? Last year I remember not being able to get to my apartment even by foot until the entire parade passed St.Charles and it was misery

It's hard to imagine, there's an easy way to do that. Interstate, may be your only bet?

Yeah i want to say the 1st year I went to this party in this location I just stayed there until like 1030 and by the time I got to my place the parade ended. Last year I tried uber about an hour after the parade passed and no way to get past st. charles or get in from the other direction.

Also try to get to Broad or Jeff Davis and head toward uptown. You can zip through there with relative ease during Endymion, provided you can get to either, and then just snake your way to the WHD.

It's sad that we have to catch a parade with an exit strategy. The quarter was a disaster this weekend mainly because people don't realize you cant cross canal. Hundreds of cars waiting on Decatur for hours just to turn around and be directed to Esplanade. Why they let people turn into the quarter is beyond me.
I would recommend catching the parade and parking on the side you need to get out. Uber was pointless for me last week because the cars it always chose for me were only 2 blocks away, but were on the wrong side of the route.

hmmm, maybe Bienville to Broad to Earhart could get me there. Provided I leave early

yeah it's starting to ruin the experience for me. I'm more worried about getting home than the actual experience
