Eat a dick.
Apparently you have no idea how long this issue has been litigated, you've never seen the past 60 Minutes/CNBC shows that clearly misrepresent the issue here, and have no idea that rifles with improperly modified triggers or have been neglected of basic maintenance been submitted as evidence which is no fault of Remington's. I would expect gun owners to be better educated and objective rather than gleefully jumping on this same bandwagon being driven by gun-control zealots.

DESCRIPTION OF THE HAZARD: Remington has determined that some Model 700 and Model Seven rifles with XMP triggers could, under certain circumstances, unintentionally discharge. It is in when this is being sensationalized and twisted to intentionally run a company out of business. Maybe you haven't actually read any of the court documents but it would do you a lot of good to do so and then understand how this particular story fits into a bigger picture you don't quite see. This isn't just about the XM/P triggers, this is also about the Walker trigger and design characteristics that can potentially cascade against other manufacturers. I know hating Remington is collective jerkoff fodder for some but there are other issues at stake here and some of you are incredibly shortsighted.

Isn't this the second time Remington has had safety-firing issues on the Model 700? Wasn't the X-Mark Pro trigger supposedly designed to fix the original trigger/safety system problems?

First off cool your jets.
I get what you are saying but just because they are a gun manufacturer cannot mean they are shielded from public and legal scrutiny over faulty designs. If they have a design that is egregiously dangerous the public has a right to know about it. And they will have to pay the consequence.
I see this being no different than the recalls and legal battles chevy Toyota ford and every car maker has to deal with. For instance the recalls on Toyota gas pedals that were sticking wide open and killing people not all that long back.
I understand the fear of bashing on gun manufacturers for safety issues but this isnt trying to bring them to court over making a gun that holds 30rds and shoots fast. It's bringing them to court over a design flaw which like it or not does actualy occur with a higher percentage than all of us would like.

Explain the big picture. Use small words.

If their guns are firing when people flip the safety, then cascade on. They deserve it.
I love guns. I want to be able to tell fraidy cats that guns don't just "go off". You have to pull the trigger. But Remington is taking that away from me.

These lawsuits extend beyond the XMP triggers, that's what you don't get. They are also going after the Walker trigger that is decades older. Those filing these lawsuits are doing so to get around the PLCAA, they can't attack gun companies on specious neglegent entrustment claims, can't go after them because of intentional misuse, but if they can find any reason to go after them on the basis of a mechanical flaw (a real one like the XMP trigger, a concocted one in the case of the Walker trigger) then they can litigate for years. If they can get beyond a settlement and have a jury decision then they will go after any other company using any part that even passably resembles it. You admit you are late to hearing about this, fix yourself by doing more reading up on these lawsuits going back about 10 years or so.

The only non-XMP rifles doing that are ones that are dirty and have modified connector spring. So no, they don't deserve it but then again you might be friends with an ambulance chaser.

Perhaps you are knowledgeable on these issues, but your rabid tone reduces your credibility.
The 60 Minutes people might be full of shite, but their level headed delivery adds to their credibility.
Something to keep in mind when trying to persuade the public.

You think they are level headed? Laughable. Anyone who buys into these things without a huge dose of scepticism has zero credibility. I'm sure you think the ABC hit piece on CCW permit holders a few years ago would be credible too. Go look it up.

Yes - the original Walker trigger.

You conveniently ignored my first question, which I was actually joking about to a degree, but now i gotta know.
How long have you worked for Remington? What were the changes like after being bought out by the Freedom Group? Or is that who you work for?

Remington has been a shite company for some time. I will never purchase another.

Last night was the first time I've heard them mention the walker trigger. What's the deal with that one?

It was the trigger on the Remington 700 from 1962 to 2006. During one of these exposes (I think back in 2010) - a then 98-year old Walker admitted he was probably going to get into trouble from Remington, but that He identified the potentially unsafe condition came up with with a 5 cent fix for his own trigger in 1948 when it was still in development.
Part of the problem is wear and part of the problem is user adjustability with these particular designs.

60 minutes special on Remington on now
That was a killer 60 minutes last night (pardon the pun). Also, I understand there are plenty of issues with the 700 firing on it's own... but that kid looks guilty as shite IMO

So are they replacing the walker triggers as well? Was just gifted a 1966 model 700.

Only issue I have with the piece was it was basically stating "Guns kill people and not people kill people". I think they actually used that wording.
They also used shitty terminology with the previous segment too. After going over the North/South Korea issues, they said "Trump once called Kim a maniac.... I wonder if he will reconsider his wording now." or something like that. Kim has shot 1 rocket since Trump has been in office and over 100 before with Obama. I would be willing to bet they never called out his name on a North Korea piece.
Long story short, it was a great story and one that should be in the public but 60 minutes always has to get in their political agenda, whenever it can.
