Not a bar or restaurant but the Columbia factory outlet has some really good buys. The old original one. Also there is a sporting goods store near wal mart by Home Depot in Portland that has it all and no sales tax. For me the food up there is rather dull. Even the Joe's Crab Shack wasn't as good as here. There is some some authentic Mexican down on Fourth Plain in Vancouver at some local taqueria. Plenty of pot shops if that's your thing

If he's that weak, he'll never get out of Portland...

Victoria is one of the coolest places I've seen. Spent two nights there and wanted two more.

Agreed. If I'm spending a day, I'd go to Victoria. Vancouver is nice, but Victoria is special.

Crab Pot in Seattle was nice, down on water and next to large ferris wheel if you like those.
Not a restaurant, but I enjoyed the hell out of the Boeing tour outside of Everett. They put together the 757, 767, 777 and 787 there. Can knock it out in three hours, would make a nice stop over or afternoon tour.
Drive to Vancouver is ok, border bogs down some, if you want to go out to Vancouver island, you can catch a ferry right there next to Boeing plant. If you are taking a vehicle make reservations. Check out ferry schedules, just Google ferry schedules in Washington.

Mt St Helens is worth going out of your way

Seattle I went a few years back, wouldn't mind going again. Mainly just wanted to go into Canada and look around for a day.

Are you going to rent a car? If so, I would also recommend going to the Columbia River Gorge - great beer in Hood River, scenery, wind surfing, and hiking.
Another option is to go in the opposite direction to the Oregon coast. Both of those options will allow you to end up back in Portland at the end of the day, as both Hood River and Cannon Beach are less than an hour and a half away.
Vancouver would be spectacular, but you would probably be looking at an overnight trip. You can pick up a car for a day for about 20 bucks on Hotwire.

Was hoping to just use the Amtrak/greyhound/Uber.... I know I looked at cars and most were 300+ for the week. May look into one for a couple of days though. Where I'm staying is 10 minutes from the airport and the host is picking me up.

After A LOT more research may do Seattle instead. I certainly want to go to My. Good and do a little hiking as well.
Will mainly stay in Portland area and drink/eat. Wanted to go to a soccer match but the Portland team is on the road that week. Doesn't appear to be many other activities outside of nature though.
