Anyone shopped used vehicles on Craigslist? *UPDATE-Immediately Strange*

I'm looking to pick something up for my son. Preferably a Chevy Silverado on the cheap. Never bought anything off the site before. Share your experience and/or advice.
So, emailed about a truck that I was interested in. Seller emailed back with more details and multiple photos. I asked for the vehicle's location and got the following email back. Scam?

Hi again, Thank you very much for getting back to me but I would like to clarify some things first. I am selling the truck at this price because my husband passed away not long ago (he was very sick) and this truck brings me bad memories and that's the reason why I want to sell it asap. Another reason for selling it is because I work in military and right now I'm on a military base. We are training and getting ready to leave the country. The truck is already at the shipping company ready for delivery because someone agreed to buy it, but in the end he never got the loan. For this reason, the shipping is already paid for. I will use e Bay in this transaction for our protection. If you are not aware of this program, you should know that it will allow you to test and inspect the truck before paying me. The inspection period will be set to 7 days and I think that is enough time for you to make a decision about the truck. If you won`t like my truck, you notify e Bay and you send it back at my expense. But I assure you that won't be the case. If you want to continue the purchase, please reply with your full name, delivery address and phone number so I can start the transaction with e bay and ask them to send you the terms of this transaction. ( with no further obligation or fees).

The dealers are all over the private sale section. Also ads for vehicles nowhere near my area.
ETA. I got a similar response, except she wanted to get paid thru Amazon. Plus the car was in Montana.

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is a scam.
It's not rocket science. Just do your research and look the vehicle over really well. If you aren't mechanically inclined, which this thread makes me thing you're not much of anything inclined, I'd take it to a mechanic and pay for an inspection.
Or, if you have a friend that doesn't have glossy polish on his nails, you can take him along to check out the vehicle.

The fuq? Just looking for some experiences.

I'd avoid the area CL listings as there are most likely a few flood vehicles on it.
My friend has made CL vehicle purchase for the last 9 years and swears he has "never lost money" when he sells it later. He is a CL fiend and will spend months looking for the right vehicle before pulling the trigger.
His latest find was a 03 GMC Yukon that looks like it was bought and stuck in a garage for 10 years. Pristine interior, low miles and he got it for an incredible price.

I had a friend who boat a boat from someone in Florida off of craigslist. Don't know details.

In my area people ask ridiculous prices for absolute junk. The bigger the city, the more realistic the prices. I posted a great 4x4 Yukon on there and buyers wanted to haggle me 50% off KBB private party. So... it's full of idiots both ways.
But I've also sold a 4x4 F150 in 2 days at full asking price. Arranged the whole deal via text, and he showed up at my bank with $14k in cash. Same thing for my wife's old Passat. Both were oilfield workers, just sayin'.
The reason I mention 4 wheel drive is that they seem to move much easier; I've had multiple friends try selling 2wd F-150's and they've languished for weeks. So for a buyer you might get a better deal, and your son will likely get in much less trouble.

This is what you have to do. There's a lot of crap you have to wade through but you can occasionally find a great vehicle for a great price. You have to be ready to jump on those deals because others are doing the same.

Haven't bought on there, but I did sell a pickup through Craigslist. It's a great way to sell. I got several calls and started quickly after posting. Of course, most people are looking to low ball. I was amazed at how many people shop on Craigslist.

I think TSLG is the seller.

She has already set you up to expect failure.
I am going to save even more money now!
What could possibly go wrong now?

I've bought a boat and a beater ford ranger for hauling. Like others said lot of bs. But there is good deals. But don't agree to nothing unless you meet them in person to buy it. That shipping is bs.
