Damn. That's a good deal for both teams IMO.

Looks like a decent deal for both sides.

Oladipo-Sabonis-Ilyasova for Ross-25th pick in 2017.
Equal trade?
Dont think so.
Demps -like trade

If you combine both trades, I agree it doesn't look good.
However, I do respect that their GM can make current moves that aren't based on past moves, which I think is one of Dell's biggest faults (realizing sunk costs).
Admittedly, I haven't watched much of the Magic the season, but it seems like Ibaka hasn't been a good fit there. Rather than letting him walk in FA, they at least acquired something for him. Could they have gotten more if they waited until the deadline? Maybe. But I wouldn't expect Ibaka, an upcoming FA, to fetch much more than this.
Edit to add Lowe's tweets:
It's apparent that expirings don't have the appeal that they once did.

It doesn't matter what you paid for a guy!!! How do some people still not get this???
If you want to lower Orlandos grade in the OKC trade, that's fine. But that cost is already spent.
Orlando's current options were a deal like this, lose him for nothing, or overpay him. So THIS deal is good for them and should be graded as such.

To a certain degree, that's true.
But you're also overlooking the fact that the GM made a horrible deal to begin with. Which we should never overlook.

Well yeah, but it makes last year's trade bad in hindsight

I agree, just imagine if Demps simply admitted he screwed up trading for Asik & let him walk rather than compounding the mistake by giving him a big multi-year contract.
GMs are going to make mistakes, good ones realize it & cut their losses.

what people are taking issue with is that ORL knew what their options would be with ibaka at the end of this season when they traded oladipo and a pick to get him in the first place
this is no surprise

I wonder what Toronto's asking price for Lucas Nogueira would be. I don't think he's our savior at Center, but he could be worth a look at a decent cost.

It seems like the lack of fit, compounded with his impending FA and the lack of desire to re-sign him, that prompted this move, rather than just the threat of him leaving this offseason. I'm sure the move was made last summer with the thought of re-signing him if it worked out on the court. It didn't work out, thus the trade.
It's fair to rate last summer's trade as a failure, but it's short sighted to rate this trade a failure because of the OKC trade, IMO.
